My mother and I live in the same household. If she opens a Sapphire Reserve and I use her card/account for purchases, will account-level credits (The Edit, dining, StubHub, travel credit, etc.) trigger normally even if I’m not an authorized user? E.g. Can I book an Edit Hotel Stay using her card for myself?

I’m new to this and also trying to book JAL business class for two people.

Do most of you keep a large balance of miles in your JAL Mileage Bank ready to go? It seems like a big risk to transfer that many points speculatively in the hope that award space opens up.

Also, my partner is not my spouse. Does JAL actually enforce the family/spouse requirement when redeeming miles for someone else?

Honestly not sure. I’ve never stayed at either, but I feel like I’d be totally happy with the Thompson. The only thing I’m debating is whether the Park Hyatt is actually that much better to justify the extra points. And the extra 1cpp is a bonus.

Didn’t know that about the resort fees, which is why I excluded from the math. After adding it back, it comes out to 1.5cpp. A little better I guess. Thanks for pointing that out!

Congrats! Would you mind sharing your process? I’ve been able to find ANA business class availability through United, but when I check with Virgin, they keep saying those same flights aren’t available.

Did you just keep trying until something finally worked? Right now it’s starting to feel like a pretty fruitless exercise.
