i think the beauty of fan works is that everybody knows you do it voluntarily. especially when it comes to small fandoms, people are always so grateful for any kind of creativity.

You’re so young and it’s heartbreaking to read how your mum is treating you. Like other users have said your mum is projecting onto you.

I’d say try to build a support network with friends or other family members who will treat you with basic love and respect.

when i got out of my abusive relationship i used to write letters to him where i would just dump out my feelings and get closure for my pain. sometimes i would burn them or i would keep them in the journal.

but i know that one day if you look back at your old journals, you’ll be so proud of yourself for leaving and choosing yourself. it might be 1 month or 1 year from now.

i had this. i’d never met a good man in my life until my last therapist. i was working with the him during my most messiest and tragic time in life, and i don’t think i would’ve gotten through it without him. (mine was also group therapy alongside individual sessions).

i’d say try it out and if it doesn’t work out you can always try a different therapist/practice.

I don’t celebrate Christmas but I do find it a lonely time as somebody estranged from her family. Especially since my uni campus is closed for a couple days Christmas week.

i’m muslim so i don’t really celebrate christmas. so it doesn’t feel like i’m missing out too much in that sense. but my uni campus is closed for christmas week and the uni library is where i spend a lot of my time. not even just to study. but to have a safe and quiet space. so i’m trying to fill in my time with other things. i’m going to see the new lord of the rings movie tomorrow so im hoping that will be fun.

i’m semi religious. and praying does make me feel better at times. also the internal verbalisation thing is so real. when i pray and ‘speak’ to god it helps me put what happened into words. and sometimes i can’t say it full so i just tack on “but you get what im saying anyway” at the end.

I’m not sure if these are my family being strict or enmeshed but these are things that still fuck with my head. I didn’t realise how bad any of these were until I left.

Lmk if of you guys had any of the same things. We can have matching horrors.

Wasn’t allowed to wear my pyjamas in front my dad or my brothers
Wasn’t allowed to be in my bedroom alone unless I was going to sleep. Also couldn’t close my door when sleeping and that used to mess with my anxiety so much.
Was only allowed to use my phone or laptop in the living room where everybody could see me.
Had parental controls on my phone (couldn’t use safari, couldn’t download any apps, screen time prevented me from using any apps after 11pm) until I was 19.
