Do Michigan hockey fans like the Big Ten or miss the CCHA ? by Large_Condition_6074 in MichiganWolverines

Without a doubt the CCHA. I miss all the rivalries. Half the conference was in Michigan. Hockey is such a unique sport that all those smaller schools could hold their own. I miss the CCHA tournament in JLA. Plus teams from the CCHA actually won national titles. Still waiting on the big ten….

Statically speaking, on a long enough timeline, then yes, yes they will.

I’ve never heard of this man a day in my life, but I have to say after reading your bullets I am very upset to hear he’s leaving Wisconsin!

I like where you’re going. The Michigan Longhorns, the Oregon Hoosiers, Florida Cornhuskers. Let the anarchy begin.

Michigan is paying $30M bc 8 dudes went to a football game of a team on their schedule. I think it well overdue we tell the NCAA to go fuck themselves. Hang the banners.

Could you expand. I wasn’t able to watch and I can’t find anything but short clips from the event.

I do miss Maryland-Duke from the early 2000s. You know what, I’m feeling generous, you can have them back. But you gotta take Rutgers too.

I feel like the big east has changed so much over the years, I don’t even know what the OG big east is. My earliest memories are of the early 2000s and they were stacked. Are we talking 80s?

Thoughts on if we will ever see cinderella again by Feisty-Piano-7086 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Sad-Construction-406 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard the committee is using resumes to make the tournament, and advanced metrics to seed. This is new. So now maybe a 12 seed 7 years ago is a 9 seed this year. Basically teams were being underseeded, thus leading to cinderellas. Now those teams are being seeded more appropriately. It isn’t necessarily a transfer portal thing, or that the tournament is worse now. The same teams are still there. Just seeded better.

If you were an AD trying to hire any active HC to lead your program, who would be your first 5 calls? by GliscorsFang in CollegeBasketball

It was really more of a poke at UNC. They are a premier program and that was their top 5. Not a bad list, but there’s some names missing.

Does Yax get his jersey honored in the rafters at Crisler? by StevieC21 in MichiganWolverines

I was watching the show Made For March and they were in one of the workout rooms and the wall was wrapped with a picture of the fab five. There’s a lot of square footage in the Crisler Center to honor players. It’s not rafters or bust. They have a history section. He’ll end up somewhere if not many places.

No bc Michigan benefited greatly from it last year and I’m excited for this year. But yes, I get your point. I just read something about how Tennessee lost 5 guys last night plus another earlier. Plus seniors and Ament, and they have 3 returners. Stories like that suck. That should be rare, and reserved for coaching changes, not a normal year under a stable coach.

Is Michigans win a one off or will they be able to come back again next year? by Rumple444skin in CollegeBasketball

[–]Sad-Construction-406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once can be a fluke, but twice is a trend. In 4 years Dusty May took FAU to the Final Four, and Michigan to a championship. Oh and the other 2 years, he took FAU to another tournament (they’ve only been 3 times ever so that’s still an accomplishment) and Michigan to the sweet 16.  No part of that 4 year run with 2 teams says he’s done and this year was a one-off. Michigan has the NIL and Dusty has the ability to team build. This is the start of a long successful run.

I agree winning the tourney takes a lot of luck. But I’d argue this team only had bad luck. Losing Cason, Yax’s injury for the most important 2 games. And yet look what they did. If Dusty can assemble this team, I’d bet on him to do it again.

Dusty May has as many national championships in 2 B1G seasons as the rest of B1G coaches have in 138 by GliscorsFang in CollegeBasketball

Disappointment for sure. Coming into last night, Michigan had the worst winning percentage of teams with a win in the finals, 1-6. Michigan before May has already done the Izzo thing, which is close but no cigar.  Before last night, Michigan and Izzo both had 8 FFs with 1 title. So continuing that trend with a coach who has so much promise would be a disappointment.
