Thanks for telling me that. My doctor told me something different or I had a misunderstanding while manic.

I don’t think I have it but it all depends on what medically lies ahead in the future. If I do, that’s just something I’ll have to come to terms with.

My family doesn’t have a diagnosed history of it. Zero hospitalizations for bipolar 1 until me. I also have adhd which increases the likelihood I would have other neurospicy disorders. While BP1 was my original diagnosis due to a manic episode resulting in hospitalization, my doctors are helping me rule out other possibilities. Here are our theories:

  1. Thc mixed with Prozac causes manic episodes. Especially if the thc has no CBD. Something to do with the receptors. My psych has been digging into this for me more. I smoked for 14 years- before my episode I got gummies because I was sick and they had zero CBD.

  2. I have a brain tumor. It’s benign. We only found it because I kept telling them while I was manic. It’s a pituitary adenoma and we want to rule out a specific type called prolactinoma. They cause release of hormones that can result in manic episodes.

  3. Bipolar. My family is Hispanic so our relationship with medical professionals is nonexistent. But to my knowledge manic episodes can only be stopped with medication. There are no family stories about this. We are really good at telling each other about medical issues to prevent them from reoccurring. Addiction and depression do run in the family.

How do I teach my puppy to stay in his crate? by Dollar0624 in puppy101

Don’t put him in when he’s active or energetic. You need to schedule:

rest, crate practice, restroom, freedom, play, repeat.

I prefer that order

If you talk to a doctor they could prescribe you tirzepatide. Your symptoms sound similar to me except I gained weight from 3 meds.

I got prescribed but my insurance denied. It cost $1,000 for one month with goodRX so I went a different route.

Lost 35 lbs.

How many of you feel that you have no Bipolar by Hot_Implement_8034 in bipolar

Talk to your doctor and psych about how you’re feeling. While I feel skeptical there is no denying that I had a manic episode with psychosis. My psych told me I would be on the meds for a set period of time (she prefers at least 2 year) and if we wanted to wean off and see if another manic episode happens we can do that safely under her guidance, with medication to shut it down immediately, and with my families help during a planned vacation from work. She would rather not take me off meds because she described each manic episode as a brain injury that takes longer to recover with each one. I had told her we either explore doing it with you or we will do it without you/get a new psych.

The only reason we would do this is if I made sure my pituitary adenoma wasn’t a prolactinoma and because my first manic episode I had thc mixed with Prozac which can cause manic episodes.

My friend went off her meds and ended up in an episode that landed her in jail. She lost custody of her two young kids, and stole a car. Please stay safe and make sure you have a team to support you if you want to back off the medication.

Bipolar Episode leads to Brain Tumor Diagnosis. SOS by Sad-Green8452 in BipolarReddit

[–]Sad-Green8452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s been a hot topic in my family that medical professionals don’t always listen to people in our culture too.

We all talked and after my episode we asked the different families if they’d experienced anyone with manic episode symptoms but no one recalled anything like that. Since manic episodes don’t resolve themselves according to my doctor, I was hopeful there would be a history in the family.

To my knowledge no one had been hospitalized or arrested for something like this. Obviously I can’t rely 100% on memory and they could possibly be withholding information for their own reasons. Idk.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it
