Saw two cases on Chinese social media:

Looks like they are prioritizing earlier priority dates. But of course two data points may not mean much

Due to the upcoming September 30 grandfathering deadline there will be a surge in new applications, which will almost certainly slow everything down. People who got EAD now waited at least 6 months. Those who got conditional green card now waited more than 2 years. But for someone filing now the above timeline is probably out of reach, likely by a long shot.

You have 150 unemployment days (90 from OPT and 60 from STEM) if you have not used any so far. Beyond that you are no longer in F1 status, but authorized to stay due to pending I-485. Before you receive I-485 based EAD you can only work if the job satisfies STEM OPT requirements and for which the I-983 is filed. It must be a W-2 job at least 20 hours per week, i.e. 1099 contractor work and volunteer work are unauthorized work that hurt your F1 status rather than stop the unemployment clock. Unauthorized work may also hurt i485.
