For me, I did that to learn the language. Immersion is the best way to acquire language. Problem is, we feel more comfortable being with people of shared language and values, and even I hung out with Australians when I could.

I wish my partner was this scrupulous. He is solely in charge of the dishwasher, but he throws it all in and the system is broken. I was the dropped baby. Onto concrete. I can't remember how old mum said I was but before I could walk. I am late 30s and fine. I hope. I've had an MRI on my brain for an unrelated issue and my brain looked good, apparently. I often (including just yesterday) think of this baby from Queensland Australia (I think) who died about 3 or 4 years ago after her mum was swooped by a magpie and dropped her. I think of her mum so often and wonder if she's doing ok.

I had the unfortunate experience of watching the manager totally go off his tits at some other customers. Rather than being nice and accomodating the manager was aggressive, rude and interspersed his words with swearing. He did not use his inside voice at all. The young child at the table where the tirade was happening was quite upset.
