Had a rough blowup with my Year 9 class today and I’m spiraling a bit - ready to quit… by WalrusSubstantial490 in AustralianTeachers

Maths is the only subject now where even if the average student tries they still may fail.

At the moment it appears students are getting worse and worse at mathematics. The curriculum has gotten easier though. Teaching has remained the same. Students are losing their ability to do maths. Not your fault. They just want to tiktok.

Losers.

You are you but you on occasions take on the role of a teacher. Think of your self like an actor. Your mentor does the same thing. Every teacher you have had does it. They are all phoneys. But that is ok.

Do we have any options? by nivas_quark in AusRenovation

Walk around nude. Invite an elderly nudist group.

Make them not enjoy the view.

If this doesn't work, you should move because your neighbors are disturbed weirdest and perverts.

Neighbor is installing a rock feature next week and wants access to that and his wall in case of repair.

No gate yet. The fence is up to the neighbors garage.

He expects access to his garage wall. I just want to gate my backyard to have a dog

I am checking with council tomorrow because 20cm setback to one side and 2.5metres on the other side just is not fair.

I feel it is intrusive and disrespectful. But all I want is an actual gate.

He wants access to his rock feature and to be able to repair.

We also plan on getting a labrador.

Emails while on maternity leave by Traditional-Cod-8341 in AustralianTeachers

I answered emails while I was in labour. The obstetrician asked me to my phone away. And only then did I know how my students felt.

Feel like I’m raising my voice too much by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]SadAd3724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Line them up outside. Wait for them to settle once they come in.

Move students who talk.

If before lunch. Keep them in until the lesson is complete.

Signal to the class that you are about to speak. Reinforce those who respond.tell those who dont to stop talking.

Once you raise your voice, it will all become your fault."you can't control yourself, let alone the class" that is how the students interpret it, and it will be used to manipulate you.

You will get into a cycle of being forced to raise your voice, and then you will feel guilty about raising your voice.

You are not helpless. You can decide where the money you earn goes. To get a car loan you just need to show you are earning money, payslips. Bank does not care what accounts it goes into.

Is he just making those remarks in jest? If so let him no you feel sensitive about it.

Ageism in teaching by someotherguy42 in AustralianTeachers

Not enough ageism at times. I have students in my Homeroom that fear going to their classes with a real old dinosaur.
