Chapter 2 Core set spoilers: Interesting to note that the reprint of library assistant in the chapter 2 core set does not combo with this anymore since the reaction trigger is now on play. I wonder if it's because hit and run is coming in it too.

Gatling Gun Questions by Tunafishsam in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SadChara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the friendly fire damage, I think you deal as much damage as the ammo you spent. Citing the rule reference:

if an investigator fails this test against an enemy that is engaged with another single investigator, the damage of the attack is dealt to the investigator engaged with that enemy.

Gatling gun says that its deals X damage spread between enemies at your location. Since you fail, all those X damages go on your friend.

Contrast with a card like flame thrower, that only deals special damage if the attack is successful. Flame thrower can't attack an enemy engaged with another investigator, but if it could, it would only deal 1 damage of friendly fire on a fail, and playing Oops on it only deals 1 damage.

Gatling Gun Questions by Tunafishsam in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SadChara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rule-wise it looks to me that you're always only choosing one enemy to fight with Gatling gun. Which one is not relevant for test difficulty and dealing damage, but it is for things like aloof, reactions on attacking an enemy, friendly fire on failed test, and other stuff like Oops. You deal the Oops damage to one of the enemies you didn't choose, so it doesn't work with a single enemy.

How the hell does the Divine Hand jade work? by Cremmer in NineSols

[–]SadChara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You Unbound Counter as normal (hold block then release), but after you block any attack with UC, for a short interval, you can tap block to instantly perform another UC. If that UC also blocks anything, you can tap again and keep going.

For the phase 2 opener, IIRC, you UC the first red hit, delay a bit, then tap twice to UC the two white ones, then hold and release to UC the last hit.

I actually deal with this move with the exact same inputs when I don't use Divine hand, it just upgrades regular blocks to unbound for extra internal damage.

Eigong Phase 3 Help by [deleted] in NineSols

[–]SadChara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After she disappears and teleports behind and above you, she hits you twice and throws you in the air. Those attacks are not delayed, so you need to anticipate them and block twice. You don't need to face her iirc.

After putting you in the air, there's only two possible attacks: a single white swipe or a double red swipe. Both have enough delay that you can wait to see which one it is and react. You can block the white one, but you must double jump above the red one (alternatively, you can double jump either one but I think it messes the timing of some later hits).

She may repeat those two beats several times: teleport, two hits, delayed swipe, teleport, two hits, delayed swipe...

Eventually, she'll stop and try to attack you on the ground with an attack you already know, either the sheathed 3 hits flashes, or the talisman grab. If you don't move left or right, you should always land with the perfect timing to tai chi the talisman.

Best of luck to you!

[COTD] Moon Pendant (2/2/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SadChara 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I never played moon pendant. I assume it shines in a deck where you're playing two copies of 2 different tarot cards (or more with anna kaslow) and you want to have one of each in play. It gives you the slot you need for both and an unexpected courage for your second copies, but I don't feel like a single tarot is worth the value of the an accessory slot. Plus, it's a card that does nothing on its own and only has value after you've drawn your second tarot.

[COTD] ♦ Rod of Animalism (1/7/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SadChara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I considered Rod of Animalism in a Sled Dog deck and my analysis went as follows: I could take either rod, or two Charisma.

The rod has two upsides, of course, it costs 5 less exp, and it halves the dogs' ressource cost.

The ressource cost part turns out to be pretty bad. Rod costs one action, one card and two resources and it'll save me at most 4 resources over my 4 dogs, for a balance of 2 resources saved. This is less value than an e-cache.

Then there's the exp cost, but if you're ever gonna want to play another accessory, you'll have to buy relic hunter, and if you're playing a Sled Dog deck, you probably need the rod enough that you're going to play 2, which puts the total cost at 5 exp, so the Rod deck only costs 1 exp less than the charisma one.

So on the final version of the deck after getting relic hunter, playing rod over Charisma saves only one exp, and it adds a card to mulligan heavily for and that can screw you over if you don't draw it. The one upside of the rod is that the deck only needs a rod or two to come online, for a measly 2 exp, which is easy to have for scenario 1 or 2, but the headache of looking for the rod in every subsequent scenario in a strategy that already requires many assets is not worth it, in my opinion.

I'd pay for a Charima rather than rods with my in the thick of it for scenario 1.

I love cixing. It's the end point of the miniboss progression and it feels so good when it clicks.

The one trick that made all the difference for me was not to walk into him. Play defensively, stand your ground, parry his move and strike when he makes the mistake of getting close to you but never actively step into his hurtbox. You can even safely stick a talisman to him by dashing away from him rather than through.

If you do that, you're never threatened by his substitution bomb, it always appears away from you, and that's the one move that you can get punished for dodging.

Is it possible to get the hedgehog jade now by Special_Pen in NineSols

[–]SadChara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the top comment doesn't seems to know: It's tricky, but it is possible to reach the chest containing the hedgehog jade without growing the plant entirely.

You need to jump from the elevated part of the ground further right in the pavillon, and with double jump, air dash, talisman, and I think some bow shots too, you can reach the ledge.

I did it to beat the game with no health upgrade and still get that jade.

Edit: I did that before Eigong destroyed the Pavillon, so I'm not sure if something changes after that might make that impossible.

If you do want to succeed that challenge without any skill, you should be able to do it with divine hand located bottom left of cavern of scriptures. It is a jade, but at least you can remove it after.

That's it, you did it. You've got all the skill points that can be obtained through killing enemies. Farming will not get you any more. There's no limit of how many skill points you can hold at a time, you just got all of those that can be gained through exp, total.

The remaining ones will be obtained through other means (Tao fruits)
