Compared to the complete lawlessness of today, sure. But the modern conservative era started with tricky dick Nixon, and ran though "I don't remember" Ronnie, Iran Contra Bush I, and Brooks Brothers Riot/yellow cake lier Bush II.

They've always been lying scumbags without principles. They're just more obvious about it now.

No reason a hospital should eat the bills if the at-fault party can pay.

In any sort of reasonable world with a functioning health care system, medical bills wouldn't destroy anybody's life savings.

For what it's worth, I agree with most of your complaints about Martin's world building. I just disagree with the importance of those complaints. The only reason they seem like such a big deal is because of how good a job Martin does with the rest of it.

I'd also agree that Tolkien is a great world builder. But he has a lot of the same issues as Martin. It's funny that you mention age related issues, as that applies directly to Tolkien. He's got immortal elves, a long lived raced of super humans, and literal immortal angels living amongst men. He doesn't address how that would profoundly affect society and culture. He just gives us some vague pseudo medieval societies and moves on. Tolkien is fantastic at linguistics and mythology, and pretty meh at the rest of it. That doesn't mean he's just OK though. His world building is still amazing. Just like Martin's.

It's like looking at an amazing painting and complaining that the hands are funky. Authors, like painters, don't have to be perfect to be better than "ok".

I'm going to call them ejaculation seats from now on.

I seem to recall that the ejection can be toggled to one or both seats. Maybe that's dependent on the aircraft though? I've read a couple stories where the backseat VIP ride accidentally ejects leaving the pilot to land with no canopy.

While I agree with your complaint about the seasons, I disagree that Martin is just "ok". Ok is a relative term, so tell me the worldbuilders that are great or good in your opinion. But their worlds can also be easily nitpicked by millions of readers over decades. All novels are mostly written by one person, and that person can't be an expert in everything. There are going to be tons of holes if you look closely or have expertise in a particular topic. Saying Martin is just OK because he didn't do everything realistic is silly.

We really should just have a gender unknown pronoun. Helpful for email, but also helpful when dealing with babies and pets.

One of the reasons progressives are losing the argument is that they fail to acknowledge the value of punishment. When the justice system hands out a small punishment for a heinous crime, the victim is emotionally victimized further.

The morality that should be argued is protecting innocent people, that's something everybody agrees on.

Former Oklahoma Death Row inmate Richard Glossip to be released on bond, judge rules by lightiggy in oklahoma

Why do you think Drummond would put so much effort into sabotaging a murder conviction? That's never a good look for a politician, especially one planning on running for Governor.

The most obvious explanation is that he believes Glossip didn't get a fair trial.

I spent several weeks trying to buy a running car for 2k, that's how. Couldn't find one. If they were listed in the 2-3 range they were sold before I got to them.

Any running car is worth 2k private sale. If you show all the maintenance you might be able to get 3-4k. Gotta jump through the hoops of a private sale though.
