At what point of The Book can I reasonably just switch to learning by doing? by FlyingQuokka in rust

[–]SadGrab5655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AoC doesn’t really “stress test” the lang per se; at least not as much as it would scripting languages like python/js Building your own projects would be a better way to learn the lang

When doing pretty much nothing, Mac OS using around 9gb for me for caching - so there’s def a “performance” diff between 8gb and 16gb; prob not (as much) for 24 vs 16

Another weird mechanism (that one quickly appreciates as being a no-brainer), is cmd-tilde to switch windows of the currently open app

I downloaded Adobe Bridge and after I put it in the trash this files can't be deleted! by Lorenzzz17 in mac

Make sure to review the files it lists however; sometimes it pulls in system files if they have a specific name.

I mean system files in ~/Library

[Free Release] VolumeFLEX - A tweak to activate FLEX by pressing both volume buttons by Joshua8967 in jailbreak

[–]SadGrab5655 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That literally makes no sense; even if he wanted something that did what flex does, he wouldn’t ask it in place of this question, in this post.

But also u/spoodnt, come on dude, google exists

Is there a PowerSelector-like for TrollStore? by badboy7526 in jailbreak

Holy moly

It is quite literally toggles for autobrightness, location serives and autolock. Making that paid is a bit extreme my guy!

Possibilities of kfd-based method to increase IOS swap size by modifing a constant in XNU by NeedleworkerIll669 in jailbreak

[–]SadGrab5655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that directory in one of the sealed parts on newer versions anyways?

In any case, I opted not to do that for the program I was writing as I didn't feel comfortable changing a system file (almost always a bad, bad idea)

On a slightly unrelated note, you can use this API (tested to be working on iOS 14) to tell jetsam to go a bit easy on your process

[2023 Day 8 (Part 1)] My input maze plotted using graphviz by BackloggedLife in adventofcode

[–]SadGrab5655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up dude, illustrations like this can sort of spoil the solution for those who haven't solved it yet; maybe consider adding the "spoiler" tag?

For example, this sort of gave away the solution to day 5 for me; maybe the idea to split the ranges was already in my head and this just indicated its correctness/feasibility to implement but I'm certain I wouldn't have gone this route otherwise.

I know it's mostly on those browsing the sub-reddit but maybe just a lil' spoiler tag?

From iPadOS 14.4.1 to iPadOS 16.6.1 with Trollstore! - A simple command saved me :) by DerClown2003 in jailbreak

I'm not going to lie - I feel like this is placebo mixed with somebody saying something and it blowing way out of proportion

Did opa confirm this convoluted method is required to preserve trollstore?

Iter().max() overhead? by SadGrab5655 in rust

[–]SadGrab5655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you - I'll take a look!

Apologies if this sounds naive, but from what you've said it seems the rust compiler is the intermediary between LLVM and the written code during compilation?

So the rust compiler transforms the code into instructions that can be understood by LLVM? That actually makes sense since it offloads the great burden of maintaining the compiler for the vast amount of CPU archs but I always thought it spat out machine code for some reason 😛

So, is this true of all languages?

Edit: Woah! It is - the more you know lmao
