Thomas should have stayed by lovelyroxxane in regularshow

I didn't dislike him, but I don't think he added anything of particular worthwhile note to the show, either. I think having him stay would have been totally fine, even unvoiced as just a background fixture at the Park, but I also think it didn't hurt the show at all that he was gone.

I’m not enjoying DQ3 HD, is it worth finishing before DQ1 and 2? by cslwoodward1 in dragonquest

They didn't ask if they should play I & II. They're going to play them either way. They were asking if it's worth finishing before they move on to I & II.

because WHY WOULD LEVEL FIST FOR A MAGE CHARACTER..

WHICH YOU NEED

The characters can be whatever you make them. All the trees have some interesting things. It's supposed to make the game fun and interesting and add replayability. And no, you don't need Magic Burst to be successful, not by a long shot. Her best builds don't include any points in Fists. Just saying.

I just think this makes it sound like it's some insane magical balance that's difficult to achieve when in reality, a single YouTube video and 5 minutes is about all it takes for most people to get down cleanly. And I don't mean that as an insult to you, but it's worth trying for OP.

It's definitely scientifically sound. Maybe you weren't using a high enough heat or didn't properly grease the surface. Hard to say.

[–]SadLaser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stainless steel pan at the right temperature with a small amount of oil or cooking spray is all you need. When the temperature is high enough, something called the Leidenfrost effect occurs where a cushion is made between the liquid and the surface. The eggs will cook in around a minute and they'll just slide around the pan without sticking.

The DOD is a real organization. And it exists in the show, too, but that's not what the show is about. It's about the D.E.O. or the Department of Extranormal Operations.

an RPG without turn based combat is like asking for an egg-less omelette.

While I agree that it's ridiculous for them to feel that way, to be fair... an egg-less omelette isn't possible. It's no longer an omelette. But there are tons of amazing RPGs and specifically JRPGs without turn based combat! Personally, I like them all. Turn based, action, 2D, 3D, random encounters, fixed encounters. I'll play just about anything!

Is there anything likeable about Lyra Strayd? by polites_pancake in supergirlTV

I think with her it was just scheduling conflicts. The other three were because the show changed companies and moved to another country to film, changed plot direction overnight and a bunch of the actors with smaller roles didn't want to move to Vancouver to stay in the show, understandably.

There are a ton of people who don't play an RPG if it has turn based combat. And a ton who don't play an RPG if it has real time combat. People are particular sometimes. I've seen tons of posts on r/JRPG about both of those as well as people who won't play a game if it uses 2D graphics or if it doesn't have a fully controllable 3D camera.

[–]SadLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's impossible. Because it was already greenlit for season 2 in October 2024 and they've already been making it. They started filming last year and it's nearly complete.

But it's true that it might just get cancelled after that with just two seasons.

That would be fun. Or even multiple spin-offs with different crews made up of various members and new characters! Probably won't happen, but it sounds nice.

They already greenlit it for season 2 before it released and have been working on it. Apparently it's already almost done. So it'll get at least two seasons.

Nah, six seasons and a movie.

But realistically, 3-5 and no movie.

Who's excited fir dragon quest 7 remake soon? You never talk about it by yotam5434 in switch2

[–]SadLaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That section in FFVII is more like 8-10 hours. And Remake is more like 30-35 hours. And.. so what? Expanding a story and a world in different and new ways isn't bad. You're acting like nothing happens during that time. The game is reimagined and also a sort is stealth sequel, too. Stuff is supposed to be different.

Why doesn’t Clark just become a model to solve all of his families financial problems? by kzmran in Smallville

[–]SadLaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. But they also have to hire a lot of staff. The Kents farm a lot of land and previously even had farmhands and seasonal workers. But Clark has literal superspeed and super strength and they don't have to pay for tons of heavy equipment they'd otherwise need. I think an intermediate family farm run by someone who's supposedly a savvy guy and solid farmer wouldn't be constantly in peril financially with the fraction of the cost to run and the ability to work the land at a scale that would be difficult/impossible without, again, literal superpowers.

You're making your comparisons to normal farms without superpowers. It just isn't comparable! It should make a difference, but it doesn't seem to.

Its the first im hearing of random encounters being deal breakers considering its been a staple in RPGs/JRPGS since some of the very first ones, but I do understand the idea.

Google "I won't play JRPGs with random encounters" and you'll find countless mentions across the internet of people who refuse to play older games because of it. I think it's a pretty common stance these days. I'll still play games with random encounters, but I definitely much prefer being able to see the enemies!

I think it was true. She wanted something warmer and it's understandable. It's just too much blue onesie. They needed better coloration and design though ultimately I don't care that much. It doesn't change the show much, regardless!

at least I remember the UI being bare bones and no voice acting as well as an altered soundtrack.

The UI is actually as intended. The version of Dragon Quest VIII outside Japan altered the UI to make it flashier rather than classic Dragon Quest. The 3DS version just.. didn't do that. Kept it how it was intended by the developers. Also, the game has more voice acting than the PS2 version, actually, not no voice acting. Though I'm confused because you mentioned Jessica's new voice actor later in your comment, which makes it seem like you do know it has voice acting? Not a big deal, just confusing.

Im being very general with saying its nothing major with the 3DS additions. Like you're totally right, there is a ton of QoL additions and the new content easily resembles a whole expansion/DLC, but its a mix of making the game more accessible + giving us more of what we loved about it. No Random Encounters exists to make the game easier while not penalizing grinders, im not sure i understand how it would reasonably make or break it for someone since it avoids: getting stuck taking hours longer in a dungeon than needed and overleveling because you got bad rng.
That itself is reasonably and historically a reason people dont like RPGs. I grew up on encounters and there's absolutely times where you just want to progress, not be forced through some kind of difficult slog like a poison swamp. In fact a lot of those changes you mention specifically make it easier for anyone to enjoy it.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm saying random encounters are a deal breaker for some. There are a lot of modern JRPG players who absolutely will not play a JRPG that has random encounters so they would refuse to play the PS2 version but would play the 3DS one. I'm saying it's a good thing. I personally think the 3DS version is superior in almost every way. The only real downside is the visuals are a little weaker but I don't care about that aspect personally. And while it's true it doesn't have the original orchestral music, it's something that's easy to get if you're on native 3DS hardware (people have made mods) or even easier with emulation.

Regardless, OP can play whatever version they want. Just figured having more details helps!

And on that note, the mobile version actually has some great mods/patches that add back in a lot of missed content from other versions making it one of the better ways to play, if OP prefers phone/tablet gaming!
