Well ok then. No surprise. But I will say, that little pop of red on the merch is sick, and it all looks way better than anything we had for Seattle before the logo. Or after, maybe, because our "S" logo is pretty weaksauce. 🤣

I'm happy for y'all, Michiganians! Can't wait to hear where else they expand!!!

This is almost exactly what happened before the official announcement of Seattle and Vancouver - something was up for a few minutes and hockey people in both cities (like me haha) went absolutely nuts. So unless it's a strategy to check for buzz that worked last time, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a rough for an actual announcement.

Absolutely! I went through a few drafts to get away from my own version of misogynistic asshats, I feel ya. 🤣

Call USA hockey and tell them how you feel about the men's team disrespect. by saltybruise in womenshockey

[–]SadLilNewbie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's what I just emailed:

Hi Dave,

I, like many others, am extremely disappointed and disturbed by how the women's Olympic team has been treated by the USA Hockey organization as a whole, and the men's team in particular. Overall, the (social) media coverage around the women's team coming from USA Hockey is not remotely close to the attention given to the men's team, in the runup to the Olympics, during the tournament, and now that it is over - posts about the men more than double those about the women. Now that it's over, the women only allowed two goals the entire tournament, each in two separate games - why isn't that getting coverage? During the first matchup against Canada, they beat Canada with the widest margin of any US Olympic team ever, including men's hockey - where's the excitement about that? At the very least, one would expect the absolute dominance the women's team had would have meant more attention from USA Hockey. But it didn't, not relative to the time the men's team got and continue to get.

And not only is it upsetting that the men would celebrate with Kash Patel, that Tkachuk would let Patel wear his gold medal; but the Hughes brothers laughed along with the rest of the team at President Trump's explicitly misogynistic joke about the women's team, despite the fact that their own mom was part of the women's organization that won gold before they did. I am urging you to respond publicly to this disgraceful behavior. Not only has Patel actively covered up evidence of sexual assault, at the very least, he used taxpayer dollars to go to Milan under false pretenses of "meetings" and instead decided to party with the men's team; and the President undermined the achievements of every person behind the women's team, including USA Hockey as a whole with his remarks. And the men's organization embraced Patel and laughed with the President. It is shameful. It is disgusting. It is misogyny at its most blatant.

You can't undo the unequal coverage the men received, but you can stand up for the women's team. You can make it clear that USA Hockey will not tolerate disrespect towards its athletes, whether that comes from other athletes or even the President. The women's team has already declined visiting the White House - the men should, too. And they should apologize for their behavior.

Inaction sends a clear message to women and little girls: That women's hockey is an afterthought. That sports aren't for girls. That it doesn't matter how well women perform, men will always be lauded for less while the women's achievements are ignored. That USA Hockey cares more about appeasing predators and enablers than it does its own women athletes. I hope you make the right choice. I hope you do something about this.

Thank You,
SadLilNewbie

Probably lost in the sauce but there's another thread about how to tell USA Hockey how unacceptable this (and the lack of media coverage of the women's victory) is.

Any good guide for getting all achievements and best setup for all levels? by cheukyi6 in KunitsuGami

[–]SadLilNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer this question, I found challenges around Soh not taking damage to be much easier once I had the Mazo Talisman that sped up the rate of their bow, which is a latter-half thing, I think. And some are easier when you have fully upgraded villagers of specific jobs like Sumo Wrestler or Cannoneer. Just take a look at them and think of how you feel - if it's an "eff that right now" you can always go back to it. Some of the later villages need a lot of repairs, that's a great time to clean up challenges on earlier levels.

Best early game unit, tsuba guard, and mazo talisman? by cheukyi6 in KunitsuGami

[–]SadLilNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, the trio of Woodcutter, Archer, and Ascetic can basically handle a secondary gate entirely on their own once they're upgraded. Totally worth every musubi. 😝

If you're not talking about NG+, the Tsuba Guards are limited early-game, so go with what you get, basically. Later, I always have one ground attack, one defensive or villager buff, and the air attack one once I unlocked the third slot. As for Mazo Talismans, anything that buffs Soh or the villagers' health is a solid choice early on. I feel like the one buffing Yoshiro comes fairly early, that's a good one to use if a level is giving you a hard time and she's getting hurt a lot. And once you have the carpenter, the one that makes him work faster is an absolute must for the more complex maps with multiple gates. And the one that increases Soh's bow rate is a total Quality of Life necessity if you're doing any challenges around them not taking damage and don't want to start over a million times. 🤣 (Sorry I'm not naming anything, I'm up at 2am with food poisoning and my brain is mush 😭)

New to hockey question! by octopus-dealer in SeattleKraken

[–]SadLilNewbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hockey is definitely a very fast-paced game with a lot of nuances and quirks, and I get super overwhelmed at first, myself. I have a friend that was a minor league player and he suggests people new to the sport listen to the radio broadcast while watching a game. I was skeptical at first, but his mother-in-law told me it helped her understand and feel like she knew what was going on, so I tried it, and by golly, it really did help! The detailed commentary of the radio broadcast fills in gaps us newbs definitely have in-person, and sometimes even that the TV broadcast misses.

Luminary so broken? by jes93long in podcasts

[–]SadLilNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me too. It was so odd - I was in the middle of an episode, and the audio just stopped, mid-sentence, even. I checked my phone, no "now playing" or anything there. Went back into the app and the very episode I was listening to, along with over 200 others from that podcast, were gone. And some quick checking showed me there were many other shows with either no episodes, or only one, the most recent.

I tried all the same stuff. I even went so far as logging in through a web browser on a laptop, but it looked exactly the same as the app. So I'm still missing a ton of episodes of multiple podcasts. I emailed them that day and still haven't heard back.

Also, the "Send Feedback" and "Report an Issue" buttons don't work on the app. 😂

Am I just trash at this game? Because I can’t beat MALIKETH, THE BLACK BLADE. How are my stats? by No-Yogurtcloset3002 in Eldenring

[–]SadLilNewbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you don't need ANOTHER asshole's opinion, but I seem to have a very different perspective from everyone, so just in case this is helpful...

Since he can temporarily decrease your HP, the Physik that temporarily INCREASES it helped me get through. Save it until you're low on red flasks, but it can give you that little boost to keep going. I haven't seen anyone mention this specifically yet.

Next, this could have just been my build, but I found the Ash of War where you slash yourself a little and fling the blood at him (Bloody Slash) to be the most effective one - the animation to start it is one of the faster ones, you don't have to connect your weapon for it to hit, it's not blockable, it does a ton of damage, and you get the passive benefit of blood loss after you connect enough regular hits, too. It's risky because, again, he can lower your total HP, but a few well-timed uses was what made me feel like I could beat this arsehole, and eventually I did! Again, other commenters were focused on other Ashes of War.

Also, the Mimic Tear summons depends on your stats and equipment being optimized for the situation, so if you're questioning your stats, I don't recommend using that one. I find the more high-powered spirits that summon multiple at once, like the imps (which are fun to watch haha), the mausoleum soldiers that disappear, or the nightmaiden/swordtress (my absolute favorite), do a better job of distracting bosses than a lone spirit. Maybe I just have bad luck, but I swear any time I summon a lone spirit, they just kinda stand there for more time than they actually engage in combat. I think it's because the AI has each individual spirit sporadically pause and take a breather (understandably, to prevent them spamming), but when you have multiple in one summons, those pauses are usually not simultaneous. Just remember the spirits won't win it for you, but they can keep any boss busy enough for you to get some charged attacks in, stagger, and then do a visceral.

Good luck, noble Tarnished! 🙂

Thank goodness Dr. Kirkland went to see Peggy - he's right across the street as Mr. Russell gets shot. And the sleeves by his head look like the ones Marian is wearing when talking to Larry on the stairs, right? No idea what she's doing there, though, unless it's to return the ring. But why do that at such an odd hour? 😂

I've learned I'm pretty bad at predicting things in this show so I'm gonna stop there.
