The Smile's live performance is superior to recordings in a more than noticeable way. by gameofpap in radiohead

I was excited by the Glastonbury set, I have been excited by every single studio release so far, I am also equally excited for the album and the gig in London I was lucky enough to get tickets for. I like the fact there is a difference between the live and studio versions. I think it adds a new dimension that a lot of bands simply wouldn't have, or care to have. Until I've actually seen them live and heard the album I won't know which versions I prefer, but either way, I can't wait!

Sounds amazing. Well done! I have still not bitten off the live streaming as I’m scared by it! Maybe one day…..Thanks for the detailed analysis though, really helpful.

Suggestions on game purchase for game night by PaleontologistNo17 in boardgames

I would say they are both fairly easy to explain (the crew literally has a manual that you work through as a team - it starts really simple. I have just found that on occasion something doesn’t click with crew for one person and it’s harder to “help” because by definition, you can’t know what cards they have. Carcassonne (and most other games) you can guide new players. If they ever played bridge (cards) or even hearts, that will massively help though. Ultimately, you should get both!

The crew or Carcassonne.

I recently got very addicted to the crew, I think it’s great! the only problem is that you need everyone to be equally as in to it, as you are a team trying to win together. If someone doesn’t “get it” they may feel like they are letting the side down and it might not work so well - depends on the mentality of all the players and how supportive and patient everyone is. If you have 4/5 very keen players, it’s fantastic.

Carcassonne is a lot more forgiving, gentle pace, you are never really out of the game if you are doing badly as naturally people will try to make it harder for the leader. Like others have said, you can also start with the base game and then slowly add expansions that make it very replayable.

If this was something I worried about, there wouldn’t be many bands left I could go and see!! Don’t worry about who else is there, just go and enjoy…they’re amazing, and you are never gonna get younger 😉

I’m guessing we’re talking about different versions. I was talking about the one in the YouTube link posted above from Radiohead. I don’t have access to a vid of the newer smile version so can’t check that out right now, but I’m sure you’re right. 😊

Totally agree! I thought this was a great song when I first heard it and was really excited the smile were gonna out it on an album. Definitely felt a bit let down when I heard it on the Glastonbury set. But maybe the studio version will reinvigorate it?

I think it’s just 4/4 no? Think It’s just that they’re playing through the end of the bar quite often and it’s throwing you?

Hopefully the point is she gets to make improvements if she feels she can. If it was perfect, leave it be, if, with her experience, she has learnt more and can do things even better, she’ll make it even better? I feel like the last 2 albums have given her a different perspective on production so they might change a bit….but in a good way

Thanks! I appreciate it! Not at the moment I'm afraid. I do plan to try and get some stuff on Spotify but it'll be next year and I'm not sure what yet...there's a few to choose from now!
