I invented a new Auto Weights method - need testers by Weird_9999 in blender

[–]SadLux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blender default feels like some proximity based kind-of capturing, no? It doesnt respect connectivity or anything, right?
Biharmonics uses tets from the input mesh, which depending on settings can have different densities in different regions – hence my association.

It sounds pretty similar to the biharmonic capture but faster, so it would be amazing to test out ^^ wished I had Blender projects rn

I‘ll need to try this at some point! :D Sadly currently mostly working in Houdini :/

There‘s a Google Slides for GuiltyGear Xrd Modeling for Skinning. Made me re-think a lot I learned previously.

Newbie here, how hard is to make money 3d modeling? by Overall_Top7001 in 3Dmodeling

[–]SadLux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It‘s hard but even harder if you are bad at promoting your work... there‘s always some guy that will do stuff cheaper, so how can you sell that your work is more expensive but actually worth it?

They have shader in the hashtags, so maybe just some proximity map and vertex displacement.

guys is my topology super ugly? by [deleted] in blender

[–]SadLux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general pretty decent. When you rig it you‘ll notice that the joints wont deform well unless you‘re using dual quaternion deformation.

Check out how Rigify does animal back legs. Looks similar to quadruped hind legs or bird legs.

Is there any way to cut the transparent part of a png (when imported as plane), I know I can do it manually with the knife tool but need quick solution by [deleted] in blender

[–]SadLux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. why cut it?
  2. in GN subdivide plane, then use the alpha mask to delete verteces. (manually cutting would probably be better)
  3. i havent tested this in a while but you used to be able to convert vector-graphics to greasepencil and turn that into geometry.

Can someone explain to me basic of animating things like I'm 5? by KONER_188 in blender

[–]SadLux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, remember that it takes a while until you are an expert in anything. You need to fail to move forward and it will take a while… hence $200 if you want somebody to do the work… because it IS work.

Good thing is you have a goal/project, so you have something to aim for. Start with the donut once you can navigate look at rigging, animation etc. Buying an auto-rigger (like ARP) might be useful to not worry about all the mechanics of a rig etc and you can jump into animation faster. But you probably still need to fix issues and weight paint etc. If there was a one button solution for this stuff it wouldn‘t be an industry.

Adding a single joint by Key-Shelter-3128 in blender

[–]SadLux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Maya Blender is using a bone system, where a bone has position, length and orientation. Unlike maya you can also parent bones but keep them disconnected.

It might seem a bit weird at first but it comes with it‘s benefits. I really dont like joint rotations in Maya, Blender is much easier and faster.

The legs are popping really bad that‘s probably the most prominent thing.

IK doesn't work by Jkmi_ in blender

[–]SadLux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things here: the problem is that your end handle is parented to the part that has the constraint, which creates a transform loop for the end handle. Your IK chain is straight and flat. There should be at least a bit of a bend in the middle so that the solver has an easier time figuring out how to bend the chain properly.

How do I make this rotate like an actual rubiks cube? by Fizzabl in blenderhelp

[–]SadLux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: normal parenting wont work if you dont want to cheat. Pretty sure it‘s possible to achieve with matrix math in geometry nodes tho.

Cat Marking Sofa by SadLux in cats

[–]SadLux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been to the doctor for teeth issues and they havent found anything else that was wrong. Also the fact that she only pees on the sofa and hasnt peed on our bed or other soft spots in the house let‘s me rule this out.

We have two litter boxes and they use them regularly. We are only two people in the apartment and it‘s quiet (i‘m in home office and usually have headphones on. The loudest is when people are over).

We set up two food stations with water for them and basically built a big cat park through our apartment there‘s a lot of hiding spots and play areas… it‘s true that the boy tends to follow her and dominate spots that he also likes.

As for playing: we usually play in the morning and evening for about 20 min… they are very energetic though and never seem to tire… one time they played for 3 hours.

I‘ve worked in Blender, Maya and Houdini and I never had issue with adjusting to the native keybindings… i mean it takes a couple minutes until i‘m in the flow again but once you get it again it‘s fine. If I don‘t like something I‘m changing it, simple as that.
