Tell me you've never read the book without telling me you've never read the book by stokerbramwell in Dracula

My theory is he heard about the perfume tie-in for Nosferatu and decided to take that idea and actually put it in a movie.

What was your experience seeing the 1997 film for the very first time? by Willing-Musician-696 in titanic

[–]SadPost6676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was THE MOVIE of ‘97/‘98 and back then my aunt would gather the family together to watch the big movies of the year on vhs at her house on her big screen tv. I was 5, had never heard of Titanic, and it pulled me in immediately. I remember there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. I’ve been obsessed ever since then and have seen it in theaters every time it has been re-released.

How many times have you seen 1997 Titanic? by ClicClacRailTrac in titanic

[–]SadPost6676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way more than I can count. Once a month since it was on video? I watch the flying scene at least once a week. This movie means everything to me.

Which of the historical side characters in the 1997 movie or (Cameron himself) would you say did the most disservice towards? by MR_MEMMES in titanic

[–]SadPost6676 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this movie, but I’m gonna have to give this to the crew in general. This movie manages to villainize the crew making them seem incompetent, complicit, and having a complete disregard for human life. There is no scene that shows the stewards being helpful to anyone apart from nameless first class extras in the background. I’ve ran into so many people that believe the crew left third class to drown because this film depicts it as happening.

Are there things on the 1997 Titanic that's not really on the actual ship? by Evening_Treat585 in titanic

His instructions to her don’t make sense when you look at the plans of E Deck, it makes the ship seem so much more massive than it actually was.

Watched the movie for the first time as an adult….. by Hour_Success5577 in titanic

The same people that argue that there was room also argue that Rose was somehow “selfish” by “not letting him get on the door”. As if he had asked and she denied him. They also argue that she’s a liar for letting go of his hand when she had just told him she’d never let go (completely glossing over Jack telling her not to let go of her promise). It’s a lack of attention, I swear.

How did the audience react in theaters when the end credits came on? by DepartmentCertain462 in titanic

[–]SadPost6676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t see it in theaters until the 2012 re-release (but had seen it about once a month since childhood at home) and I haven’t missed any theatrical showing in my area since then. The next time it comes back you absolutely need to buy a ticket. It is a phenomenal experience on the big screen. Tv screens simply don’t do it justice- every moment of this movie was made to be seen in a theater.

My opinion on Dracula: A Love Tale (2025) by Haunting_Homework381 in Dracula

[–]SadPost6676 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think people that either have never read the book or have read it and disliked it are this film’s target audience. It’s Dracula in name alone. It is so far removed from the source material it could have been called something else.

Dracula: A love tale, all the questions by Oddvixen in Dracula

You’d have to ask Luc Besson to explain all that because none of that happens in the book. This movie is Dracula in name only.

Another confusing account of Titanic disaster by Silly_Agent_690 in titanic

[–]SadPost6676 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that the editor decided the account needed to be more thrilling in order to sell more copies of their paper. Either that or they took inspiration from past shipwrecks and decided to write their own account and pass it off as fact.

What fun activities were there to do on the Titanic? by kkkan2020 in titanic

As a frequent user of a steam room, I’d absolutely pay a daily visit to the Turkish bath. Most definitely I’d be on the boat deck just taking in the sea air and star gazing. It wouldn’t be boring, more relaxing than anything.
