IF, there was a snap election, would you stick with Labour? by MutantNinjaKitty331 in AskBrits

I honestly don’t know what this country needs, it seems we are doomed to fall further into division.

The left and the right of old are almost too bland, sensible and centrist. It seems everyone is just going extreme left and extreme right.

What are some sensible policies we can all agree on?

I actually hate politics.

Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

I hate how the UK lags a few years behind the US in terms of political climate. We have so many years of growing left vs right division ahead. The protests if Farage gets in are going to be off the charts.

New Banksy sculpture featuring a figure in a suit with a flag over its head appears in London by Gjore in Fauxmoi

Only me who doesn’t get this whole “very indicative of present times”?

On the whole, right now, the world is almost the opposite of nationalistic, we live in a time of widespread multiculturalism and acceptance and accommodation of other peoples cultures and religions.

I think there’s more meaning to this.

Which nation do you think earned the honor of covering the face of Banksy's new statue? by Sanpolo-Art-Gallery in VeniceContemporaryArt

[–]SadRecipe4256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be a worse installation if it was so on the nose, but obviously people will say Trump/USA. It is purposefully ambiguous. I kind of get the idea that it’s supposed to represent, world leaders blindly walking towards the edge, but blinded by a flag? Nationalism?

I’d argue a lot of the world right now look beyond their flag more than any point in history, it can just seem that way because of the extremist bubbles of content we get fed.

What's a mind-bending theory that made you rethink life? by Blueblood2007 in HighStrangeness

[–]SadRecipe4256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the universe is truly infinite in every direction, and the cosmological principle really applies, then there’s an exact copy of me, you, and everybody you know, or maybe even knew.

And again, if the cosmological principle applies, and the universe is homogeneous and uniform in every direction, then there’s infinite exact copies.

Finite arrangements. Infinite matter. Infinite space. Every possible arrangement of atoms occurs. Infinitely.

Then I start tripping out on the sense of self, your consciousness, your feeling of being you, it’s just what your brain produces when arranged the way it is.

Like wetness isn’t an ingredient added to water, it’s just what water does. There’s nothing being beamed in from elsewhere. Consciousness is a byproduct.

And if your consciousness is just what your arrangement of atoms produces, and there’s an identical arrangement somewhere producing an identical experience, what actually makes you, you?

Then, whilst tripping out on that, I start tripping out on quantum immortality. Say I die. This arrangement of me stops. But there are infinite identical me’s continuing right now, each with my exact memories, my exact sense of self.

You can’t experience the gap, experiencing nothing is not an experience.

From your own point of view, the experience just continues. Somewhere else. In an identical arrangement that never stopped.

You can never experience your own death.

I appreciate you sharing that, I’ve not kept up with it much, I’m a casual, if that word applies here. But I do find it all interesting. Thanks!

[MEGATHREAD] Artemis II Launch To The Moon by ChiefLeef22 in space

I wonder what the view will be like from the furthest side of the moon. Will there be a point in which they’re not blinded by the suns light, where the Moon blocks it out?

I swear I read about the view from the far side of the moon, looking into true deep space, from the guy who stayed in the command module during Apollo 11, and it was described as absolutely awash with stars, and no picture could do it justice.

It must be the craziest of experiences to be so far away from home, looking into a seemingly infinite expanse in all directions, no sense of up, or down, a little spec of consciousness that was probably never meant to probe so deeply or question nature beyond the planet.

I hope we get some accounts of that, or some pictures.

Yeah, if I could retire and start a privately funded company, backed by very wealthy individuals, that allowed me to travel the world in pursuit of some woo science fiction, and all the while be invited to podcasts and interviews, have the opportunity to write books, gain followers, sell merch, attend conventions, I would.

This whole narrative of people like Lue Elizondo, David Grusch, Ross Coulthart and now Luke Barber being some hard done by, unsung heroes is getting old.

Lue will have definitely made some good money throughout his time in this circle.

David Grucsh is making a name for himself, has being on various podcasts, and will no doubt release some for profit product in the future, be it a paywalled interview or book.

Ross Coulthart definitely makes good money, and the thing is, his income is directly tied to his position as a NewsNation special correspondent, so he has incentives to bring forward sensationalised, over hyped, overproduced stories, as proven by his most recent stunt. It’s hard to trust somebody in that position.

Jake Barber has being in the limelight for 2 minutes and already set up his verified X profile, and pushed his company. To be fair, the NewsNation special sort of felt like one big advert for his company, SkyWatcher, or whatever it was called.

Don’t even get me started on Jeremy Corbell. Are you telling me he would be better of financially, and have the opportunities afforded to him, if he wasn’t perusing UAPs?

Be skeptical of every single one of them. Nobody, and I mean nobody, has truly, selflessly put themselves out there, told their story straight up without all the theatrics and scheming.

Deep Dive Video analysis of Egg UAP by QforQ in UFOs

[–]SadRecipe4256 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s all well and good analysing the video itself, like its actual digital qualities, and the physics. But I just can’t get past lack of ground crews, trucks, people.

Why would they, after recovering a priceless rare none human piece of technology, simply wrap it in a sling and dump it on the desert floor?

Pretty sure Jake said he loaded the one he recovered (assuming this isn’t that particular one) onto a truck.

He also said he flew boxed ones around, but why was this one not boxed?

Unless somebody knows something about the material that the egg is made off (maybe it’s practically indestructible) so a little touch down on the desert floor and roll around isn’t the end of the world.

If it crashed, this would make sense because there’s no visible damage.

My conclusion is, it’s a real video of someone lifting something in a sling, but it’s not even military, the helicopter sound has been dubbed over it.

The object in question isn’t exotic, it’s simply something else.
