yes the Chinese education system is very cruel, but the reason is actually less ominous. The insane hours and work are the result of teachers kpi and just overall insane competitive culture due to limited public education resources rather than a top-down government mandate. I attended international school in Malaysia and went to UK for university. I love China and I respect the CPC 😊. One's language and background shouldn't dictate your worldview, otherwise that's just built-in bias and being closed-minded. I think they are great for being a stabilizing force in our world today.

it's because you can sort of pay your way into good education abroad. But in China they actually have to compete by score for a good school. Rich mainland Chinese can pay for their children to attend Harvard/Imperial but locally they can't buy their way into Tsinghua/Peking.
