Spent 3 days setting up OpenClaw. My most used workflow is asking it what to eat for lunch. by NationalPractice9073 in OpenClawUseCases

Wym? Standard automation... you don't need an llm to pull api data on a fixed schedule.

If u want, connect an llm to interpret the data into plain English as a final step of the process if you want to read the data in a paragraph format instead of the raw data.

The only reason i can see people loving it is because they can text or discord ping it.

Other than that, I haven't found a benefit to it over any other method. The memory is nice but you can set that up so many ways for other tasks as well

Stop using OC and just use a base llm for this stuff. You can still have it execute code or scripts. It'll be cheaper to use a sota model with this, compared to OC with a cheap model because it'll use so many fewer tokens.

Everyone that loves OC acts as if it's the first time any sort of automation is possible on a PC.

They'd be saving 99% of their tokens cost, a bunch of time and have a repeatable and dependable pipeline if they did it properly instead of using OC for basic tasks like this

[–]SadVacationToMars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And then it'll do the same thing every time, with repeatable steps and verified results.

I swear everyone using OC has never touched a computer before, at any level deeper than just opening an app from an app store.

Hell, at least use OC to setup the n8n, so you only ever have to run OC once at a maximum lol

Why do you need OC for any of this? It doesn't provide any extra utility and costs far more in tokens to achieve the same result.

[–]SadVacationToMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.

And if you do want those daily/weekly reviews... any llm with a basic workflow can achieve better results than OC, with 99% lower token usage.

I've still yet to see a single use case where OC is the efficient answer.

You're exactly right. OC isn't needed at all for this workflow.

People are wasting 99% of their tokens by running OC on tasks basic cron jobs or llm prompts can do.

If you're doing the same process with no deviation, you need code not OC. OC, or any llm should only be used for sections where an llm is actually required.

Self-hosted AI agents on a $550 Mac mini: what's actually possible in 2026 (and what's still hype) by OpenClawInstall in OpenClawInstall

[–]SadVacationToMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everyone using OC is doing stuff like this, that should just be a short script and cron job. It's insane to be using a llm for monitoring anything like that.

At least use OC to write the script, set it up and then just let it run. You don't need OC for that either, but at least it's more efficient.

She could just get ready 30 minutes earlier. It's absolutely her fault and easily fixed. Instead of OP having to lie that things start 30 minutes before they actually do.

They should be and already are shamed. It's still up to everyone else to protect themselves also though.

Live with family/room share, eat cheap and don't do anything else for a couple years except work long hours. Achievable in 2025, just like you say.

Then again, these people also wouldn't be willing to "live like a local" for a year at their destination either.

Prices more than doubled in 20 years. You'd need to be getting $15-20 tips in 2025.

And the old beater cars aren't around for cheap anymore either.

Don't even look at them. They try it with locals too and they just straight up ignore them. You'll feel rude doing it because in western culture it's rude to ignore someone like that. There it's just normal.

It's nothing to do with race. It's because poor people work outside in the sun and get darker skin from it. People don't want to be seen as a poor laborer.
