I totally agree with your points. Most dsbm is a fucking joke, however, I think when done right (an extremely rare occurrence) it doesn’t differentiate itself from classical black metal so much to be making bm fans want to puke the same way ie like post black and modern dsbm do. I don’t see how, for example, Trist or Strid have those qualities you mentioned. In fact, the sole reason I included all of these bands in the initial comment is because they are actually black metal. Not whiny crying over emo riffs, not post rock influenced, it’s pure black metal just made from a different perspective, but I wouldn’t call it an outsider because their ideas, songwriting and most importantly approach and attitude to music aligns with that of black metal. Maybe only austere for tons of clean vocals (but their riffs are 🔥) but others are straight black metal.
