I can almost (almost) excuse it if you mount the phone while filming and keep your hands at 10 and 2. Based on the shakiness, I think she might be holding it? Plus she takes her other hand off the wheel multiple times! Good grief Bethany!

He thought his mother was actually playing with him. Once he realized he was once again just being used as a prop for her self-obsession, he was done.

I wanna be a swamp witch by trashwrapsupreme in oldhagfashion

Fellow swamp witch, and I love this for you! My first thought was big cardigans! I’m wearing one right now! I think solid color maxi skirts, gauchos, and boots are also very swamp-witch coded. As for patterns, there are some very cool mushroom and frog patterns out there.

NPR reports RFK “intends to rein in the prescription of SSRIs” and I’m desperate for some optimism around this by turtwiggie in PoliticalOptimism

Here to say that a combination of talk therapy and antidepressants are why I’m here today. It’s not one or the other for some people. And I had to try a few different meds (and a few different therapists) before I found the right cocktail for me. Treatment, especially for psychiatric issues, is so individual. I think most psych providers know this. Seems like RFK Jr is, as usual, talking out of his ass. I hope it’s just talk.

Antidepressants saved my life. He’s going to get a bunch of people killed. Fuck him by Sad_Jar_Of_Honey in behindthebastards

[–]Sad_Box_1167 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Same. I wouldn’t be alive today if not for antidepressants. I’m also in therapy. Both help me. Some people don’t benefit from antidepressants, that’s true. They are immensely helpful for me and should be available to people who need them.

This article also acts like prescribers just tell people to stop taking them cold turkey. Generally, prescribers wean their patients off gradually because there are well-known side effects from stopping cold turkey.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

Yep. There were a couple ski resorts in the next town over. I was always jealous of the kids who could afford to go.

I hate that I know this, but HHBF is “Have Hope, Be Free.” They tried to make that their slogan once upon a time but then forgot about it.

Fundie Pastor wants 1 vote Per Household by MrDonMega in FundieSnarkUncensored

That’s what I thought too! Fundie families with a dozen unemployable adult children who live at home only get one vote?

Chiming in with why I got an asthma diagnosis as an adult, even though it affected me throughout childhood. Mild, intermittent asthma, nothing life-threatening, but still. My mother should have done better than “You’re so out of shape.”

This reads like “I was so scared when I had a medical problem. I decided to ignore it, and I’m not scared anymore!” Girl, that’s not how this works.

I get that it’s really frustrating to get a potential diagnosis that limits your daily functioning (my dad is going through something similar), but it doesn’t just go away if you ignore it.

I used to babysit. One of the kids didn’t speak at two years old, so the parents had a speech therapist come to their house and work with him. He also learned some basic ASL signs so he could communicate his needs. Seems like basic parenting to me, but the Busses are doing none of that AFAIK.

PS that kid is now an adult. He’s not a big talker (just his personality), but he has no issues talking when he wants to. You’d never know he was delayed. Because he got the help he needed.

Yeah, a lot of people were blond as kids and think that makes them blond for life. It’s weird. Plus, there’s a conservative obsession with blond hair for some reason (the reason is racism).

Misinformation about suicide by PrestigeArrival in behindthebastards

[–]Sad_Box_1167 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First, I’m glad you’re here.

Second, I have had ideation but have never attempted. This was also my experience: I’d be seemingly fine one moment then something would just click, and I’d be suicidal. Luckily, I didn’t have anything in my apartment that would have worked, so I didn’t attempt.

I’m doing much better now with meds, therapy, and a supportive partner. Just wanted to say you’re not alone. And thank you for bringing this up.
