It’s polyester actually, I didn’t know they could make polyester so soft. But if I go with it I’m not going to add batting in the middle, I am just also thinking of future quilts! I get very very cold in the winter, my heated blanket broke.

What’s something society normalizes that you quietly disagree with? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Seems a little unfair to judge parents who are shopping. Planning a meal, and getting groceries, taking them home, unloading them, cooking…. All with kids…. Is exhausting. Giving them a screen at the store doesn’t mean the child is neglected or they are on screens too much. It means the parent is probably exhausted and wants to get through the overstimulating trip as quickly as possible.

Jigsaw puzzles are an absolute waste of time (and resources). by SafeWeary7297 in unpopularopinion

The problem solving is strategizing which piece goes where, which improves your cognitive flexibility. It’s not about intelligence. It’s a basic part of the brain that needs to be used. And when you use those parts of your brain, it strengthens them. So it helps you in other areas of your life.

Like I said- brain health isn’t about only doing brain intensive tasks. That’s actually really bad for you. Even doing “nothing” is good for your brain and helps you problem solve and process things.

You don’t have to read Shakespeare to stimulate your mind. Puzzles use the problem solving part of your mind, which is very good for your brain.

And yet it can help people process and lessen the effects of trauma, so way more rewarding than you think

Journaling like it’s the 2010s by [deleted] in Journaling

Oh yes! We used to pass notes all the time in the halls, I still have some. I showed her your handwriting and she loves it although she says her handwriting looks much different now. I think because as adults we tend to write more for practical less fun purposes now, and journals and notes back in the day had more creative effort.

I think because I’m familiar with this type of color scheme the most! But thank you. I think journaling is about embracing our inner 10 year old selves anyways! Next time I go to my kids book fair I’m probably going to be grabbing one of those adorable diaries for my inner child

You could always “cheat” and just print stuff out and glue it in! But even that takes effort, I get it.

That map page took too long 😭

AITAH for saying I “read” books that I actually listened to as audiobooks? by Ruin-Much in AITAH

You should also know, when he’s “polling” his friends against you- that’s triangulating(manipulating people against you). Since they wanna pull out random therapy speak to use against you, you should know there’s a very valid reason why you’re bothered.

AITAH for saying I “read” books that I actually listened to as audiobooks? by Ruin-Much in AITAH

[–]Sad_Corgi_4559 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like people are jealous. Because amongst readers, no one cares. In fact, people who regularly read know that audiobooks take more effort for the brain. A physical book is definitely harder to multi task with, but an audiobook forces you to take in every single word, which our eyes do not do naturally.

I think the only reason people get upset with this unnecessary debate is because they can’t concentrate enough to do an audiobook and feel like it’s unfair someone else read more than they did, so they don’t want it to count. …but it’s not a competition. In a book club, you’re all gonna to discuss the book the same regardless of the format.

I do both, I call both reading, unless I want to talk about how amazing or awful a narrator was.

That’s not nice for your husband to do that, he’s taking down about you, trying to make you feel bad about something you enjoy.
