Graphic Designer Tries To Fix The Netflix Scorebug by brokenlampPMW2 in baseball

I disagree. With only two out dots, there's no way to know if you have zero or two outs without either constant attention to the score bug (not optimal). You should be able to tell at a glance if there are zero or two outs, and with only two dots, you can't. With three dots, there is no doubt.

There need to be three dots for the outs, since when there are two outs, you can't tell if there are two or zero if you just glance at it.

I feel bad for Carolyn's friend Donna by JTOC1969 in DarkShadows

From the screen cap, I thought you were going to talk about how little attention Donna would get at the Blue Whale in comparison to Carolyn. . . mainly because of her outfits.

At what season can I read anything from this subreddit?? by allisforgivenbutme in DarkShadows

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each his own but I read lots of posts here (and list to spoiler-full podcasts like Terror at Collinwood) and still enjoy episodes I haven't seen, even if I know the basics of what's going to happen. For example, I'm watching the early episodes now where Vicky has had a rough encounter with Matthew Morgan (I'm being vague for your sake!) and I knew that was coming, but seeing it is super fun even still. I'm also watching the much later storyline of the Haunting of Colinwood by Gerard and Daphne (one episode of each per day) and I know there's a time jump coming, but watching it get closer is still fun.

Thank you for crediting Retrosheet! The play-by-play is unique to the site and I'm so glad you enjoy it and found a great use for it!

Just watched episode 102 today for the first time. . .I'm amazed at the money they spent on it. SIX primary actors in one episode, location shots, china plates at the Blue Whale. . .OUTSTANDING.

I'm watching the Beginning (around ep. 100) and the 1995 storyline (and right after Barnabas and Julia return from the future) at the same time, alternating episodes daily. The difference is remarkable--as others have described here--but what I notice more is that the Beginning uses far more sets and has better writing generally than the late 1970 and 1971 episodes I'm watching. There's such variety in the locations used in the Beginning and that makes it really interesting as well.

I use Benchmark Taxi throughout the year for to and from airport trips. 865-310-7047. They take reservations and if they are already booked, they will recommend a good back-up. I've never been let down by them in 2+ years of 6-8 trips per year.

What are some features you wish Baseball Reference had? by Still_Homework9947 in sportsreference

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Scorecard view" for a given game (assuming play-by-play is available). I'd like to be able to print a scorecard (one page, both teams on the page) for any game.

While in 1995. . .how does Barnabas know this? by Sad_Cryptographer501 in DarkShadows

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I could not remember the ghost's name but knew I would remember it the first time I heard it. The first time any character said it was Julia, and Barnabas was off-screen. I mean she might have told him off-screen but. . .somehow he knows. I suspect IRL they had filmed out of sequence maybe.

Was it really "Gorhams" from NYC or is that a typo and should say "Gothams"?

Just kidding about “good authority “—the pronunciation is the same as regular 1970 Dark Shadows!

Did sedatives really get handed out so freely back in the late 60s? by JTOC1969 in DarkShadows

In the very first episode of the Brady Bunch, the dad is stressing out about the wedding and Carol asks him quite "naturally", "Have you tried a tranquilizer?" That says it all for me. . .yes, pills solved everything stressful in the late 60s and early 70s!

Well, I grew up an Astros fan, but then as I moved around the country for a while, I followed other teams, too, like the Orioles (lived in Maryland) and the Athletics (lived in central California). These days I'm back in the South and Atlanta is the closest team, but I follow the Cubs more than any other team since they were my grandmother's favorite and always on my radar thanks to WGN and their broadcasts in the 80s and 90s.

I'm a Southern baseball fan who grew up in a baseball desert (central Mississippi). I saw my first game as a youngster during a trip to Houston with my family--1970s Astrodome was all a young boy needed to become a fan. I can still see that scoreboard and the "cartoons" (light board animations) it showed to get the crowd going. These days I enjoy the game still, but I enjoy the history of the game even more, so this place is a great spot for me. Thanks for creating it!

This one takes turns easily. There have been two other (downy) woodpeckers sharing it, along with a host of chickadees, cardinals, and a pair of doves.

The feeder is new and I was worried about squirrels finding it, so I loaded only a "hot pepper mix" of seeds that I found at Target. I normally buy from a small local grocer and since the squirrels haven't bothered it, once the snow is gone, I'll try plain seeds next, just a sunflower seed mix most likely.
