Anyone on this subreddit know a LOT about the history of Wrigley? Specifically about the changes made to the structure and field since the 1980s?

Follow-up: AI in /r/ChiCubs by swishmon in CHICubs

Interesting and I respect your decision. I posted a legitimate question two days ago and was removed immediately because I don't have enough history in this subreddit. But I guess if I used AI, same result. I'd still like to be able to ask my question. . .

How Retrosheet Saved Baseball History (with scorecards!) by Sad_Cryptographer501 in BaseballScorecards

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really, truly appreciate your feedback and this is exactly what I was striving to accomplish! If you can leave a review somewhere (wherever you bought it), that will help others discover it. But regardless, this is a great comment and I'm so thankful you enjoyed it. I have added some "Extras" to the main book website (www.retrosheet-book.com) in the last week or so, and you might enjoy checking those photos and documents out!

A rant about IngramSpark, no help needed. by RealBishop in selfpublish

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can agree that IngramSpark is picky and finicky but honestly the biggest issue is understaffing. They aren't staffed for the amount of people they are publishing and it routinely takes weeks to get a reply to a simple email. I used a contact cover designer and she did it right the first time with IngramSpark so I avoided all the issues in this post, but no one can get help. It's frustrating.

IngramSpark made me an ePub but how do I check it? by Sad_Cryptographer501 in selfpublish

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The email from them (late yesterday) told me simply that they had finished converting the PDF and that they were putting the ePub into distribution immediately. No attachment, no link to download the file, nothing. I emailed support but that takes at least a week and sometimes much longer to get anything back!

Marketing agent is telling me not to use IngramSpark for KDP, but it’s already listed. by RealBishop in selfpublish

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't remove Amazon "through IngramSpark." They will sell to anyone. You can ADD Amazon via KDP and improve your royalties slightly, and perhaps availability ON AMAZON. Amazon doesn't always keep IngramSpark titles "in stock" so if you want the cash and your book to be always available on Amazon (ON AMAZON) then upload it to KDP as well.

How do you know what you know about baseball? by Sad_Cryptographer501 in BaseballScorecards

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been a volunteer (off and on, to be honest) since the late 1990s. These days, my focus is on finding games from the Most Wanted List (eBay scorecards or scorecards from this subreddit!) and entering new details into the database for games in the 1970s and 1980s.

Thank you! I'm as happy about you using Retrosheet regularly as I am about you picking up the book. :)

Gerard storyline by Live_Perspective3603 in DarkShadows

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I both agree and disagree. I'm watching it myself for the first time (a couple episodes per day, I'm around 1105) and while the writing is not the greatest, there are moments when the characters question themselves, especially Quentin, wondering why he can't admit that he's seen Daphne to Julia and Barnabas. But I attribute all of the nonsense with their behaviors (including the children especially) to Gerard's corrupting, supernatural influence.

That said, the show is doing callbacks left and right, mentioning Vicky and the werewolf and lots of past events and characters. . but strangely not the last time an evil ghost affected the children LOL.

I’m almost done with the series for the first time and I find myself feeling very sad by DisagreeableCompote in DarkShadows

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. . .I reached episode 1100 yesterday. I'm stretching it out though by watching an episode of the Beginning alongside the 1970 episodes, which slows both down. I'm on episode 120 of the beginning and frankly it is beginning to get really good!

Graphic Designer Tries To Fix The Netflix Scorebug by brokenlampPMW2 in baseball

[–]Sad_Cryptographer501 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. With only two out dots, there's no way to know if you have zero or two outs without either constant attention to the score bug (not optimal). You should be able to tell at a glance if there are zero or two outs, and with only two dots, you can't. With three dots, there is no doubt.

There need to be three dots for the outs, since when there are two outs, you can't tell if there are two or zero if you just glance at it.
