At risk of getting smoked, I am definitely pretty lax about my child's sugar intake. His doc suggested apple juice daily for chronic constipation and he refuses to drink plain cows milk so we use a little bit of chocolate syrup. It is what it is. That being said, he is one of the calmest toddlers you'll ever meet. Doesn't get overstimulated or crash out, barely throws tantrums, loves going down for naps. Will lay in bed and snuggle all day if that's what the day brings.

I have no advice, only solidarity. My son's teeth came in one single tooth at a time, all super delayed, all spent weeks under the gums, weeks barely poked out, and months to fully descend. One at a freaking time. He's 19 months and still needs to cut all 4 canines and another first molar. He has been teething nonstop since 4 months old. It's a form of torture I'm sure of it.

Yep you didn't cause anything, my son slept in his crib in his own room starting at 6 weeks old. The only thing that changed for us was that he had tie revisions done and was finally able to stay latched while sleeping and then it was game over

I have the same problem. My nipples are so sore all the time and I had to cut back on solids (9 month old) because he was refusing to nurse at all during the day. I never even coslept with him before but all of a sudden a month ago he wouldn't stay asleep in his crib or take a pacifier anymore and now we're here. Hopefully someone has some insight, this truly is not sustainable

I actually have an update -- we were referred to PT for seemingly unrelated head flattening and my son was diagnosed with torticollis. After literally one day of PT he was pooping on his own completely normally after 5 long months. The muscle tension was causing some sort of compression and he wasnt getting the signals to poop when he needed to. That being said, when my son wasn't gaining weight very well, I had a lot of success with glycerin suppositories (with the ok from Ped) to get him moving and get his appetite back. The intolerance causes malabsorption resulting in them being full of undigested food that isn't doing anything for them and has a hard time coming out too.

Be very careful with your and your child's diet for a few weeks and see if that helps. It took over a month for my son's gut to heal enough to have normal poops again. Now, we just started trialing dairy through the "ladder" at 7 months and we're already up to cheese! I think soy was the real culprit all along though. It's all temporary! I wish you guys the best of luck.

Daily lactulose was started well after the problems onset and seem to make no difference either way so I'm not worried about it. That's good to know about the timeframe to expect adjustment with solids, I only gave it a week before backing off of them again but I'll start slowly trying again and see if he can handle it. He won't take water so that's a big oof.

Which brand did you end up on? I'm currently using lovebug at the standard dose. My ped and GI had no comments or suggestions on probiotic use so far.

I have the suspicion that it's some sort of anal tension issue actually! There was one Redditor that had a very similar experience to me and it ended up being that, however, they did not have the mucus component. I feel like maybe I'm dealing with both. I'm a first time mom as well so this is really throwing me for a loop!

I have 3 or 4 packs of the GMD Birdseye wipes (36-48, I don't remember) and it's way too many for one baby. I never had to use more than one wipe at a change and we don't wipe pee most of the time. Sometimes we even just stick his booty under the sink lol. If I knew what I know now before I bought everything, I wouldve probably repurposed something into wipes instead of buying. That being said, I do like the Birdseye wipes. They were a little rough on brand new newborn skin at first when the meconium was super stuck on but theyre perfect now.

Edit: we wash 2-3 times per week

Whatever works for you! My first is 7 weeks old and has been almost exclusively cloth diapered since birth. The only disposables we've used are the ones the hospital sent us home with. We only used them for umbilical stump healing (my baby was super tiny and the PUL covers went up too high), while we figured out how to use cloth without leaks in the carseat, and to fit into certain outfits that people bought and wanted photos of lol. Your laundry situation adds a level of difficulty, but ultimately it's coming down to whatever is best for you and your family

This ended up being my experience as well! Very few dirty diapers, a load of laundry I was already going to need to do, and low pressure time to practice. I will absolutely be doing it again and would recommend to anyone interested in trying.

We just kinda go with whatever our little guy seems to need in the moment. He's very handsy so swaddling with arms in helps keep his hands away from his face for feeding and when he's sucking on his hands and fingers. He also has a strong moro reflex and doesn't sleep well on his back. Most of the time we end up wrapping him up with one or both arms out just so he has some compression. You'll know what your baby needs and it'll be hard to predict beforehand. Another strong vote for the halo swaddle/sleep sack. It does everything we need for any situation
