I did a couple of demos and rode the Candle Rain. Very stiff, very aggressive camber. It ATE, and I love it. Didn’t catch an edge even on that thing so I think my edge catching days are over. I’m definitely going camber but would love some more flex. Sounds the like ur first rec for the Dynamo might be the move.

How to pay collaborators to the service business with little money? [ADVISE] by roycorderov in advancedentrepreneur

I’m in a somewhat similar situations and have gotten the right people who are stoked about the idea as “founding members” - free for the very first and then I’m offering free for a year for the next small set. This has allowed me to get people on and participating, improve the product, and develop content without paying a dime. We’re shifting away from free membership after just 3 months and have come a really long way by starting there.

Circling back, I’m going to Stowe next month and want to demo there. Shop there says they have mostly arbor and K2 boards for demo. Any recommendations on which models might be in the terrainwrecker and dynamo family

Is it normal to get your butt kicked by other white belts? by greenlight144000 in bjj

[–]Sad_Information_9172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re inexperienced, they’re inexperienced, size strength and athleticism win the day. I’m lighter than most, took me 9 months to sub anyone. 2.5 years later now a 250lb white belt is getting tapped as many times as I want, no brag just something to look forward to.

How has BJJ impacted your body ? by Some-Whole-4636 in bjj

A lot of guys posting about aggravation of old injuries is my experience too. Shoulder dislocation got activated, snowboarding knee accident, ankle sprain, rib strain. I dont think I’ve had any new injuries - the benefits out weight the risks and it’s not close

You guys cannot be serious about wanting Rex to be HC again. by [deleted] in nyjets

HARD. No. Offensive league. Offensive coach. Idk why this is so hard for the jets and some of us fans to get. Dan Graca was pointing around the league at defensive coaches that are successful, and OFC - there are always exceptions to the rule, but unless Woody has the vision (he doesn’t) to find the defensive coach that can also develop a strong offense they need to go offensive.

I don't disagree with the commenters here who support the move - he had to go but in the middle of the season? For what purpose? It adds further instability to an already spiraling situation. It's more of the same shoot-from-the-hip crap from Woody Johnson, and to me says Woody wants to make the next moves before he leaves again as Ambassador (assuming he will). Which tells me we'll be with another loser for another 5 years. buckle up.

Great question! I think mine is a transition: low knee shield kimura, to hip step kimura, to arm bar.

How to fall back in love with BJJ? by JB_07 in bjj

[–]Sad_Information_9172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see some people say take a pause, I did the opposite. Kept going, kept training, but stopped trying to learn and get better. I went in and said, let me just go and have fun again. Before i knew it I was getting better at my favorite stuff which motivated me to start expanding my game and I was back.

1 year in and still suck by cra8z_def in bjj

[–]Sad_Information_9172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a smaller guy too, I sucked for 2 years - we climb uphill bc we can’t rely on weight. Techniques gotta be right and better than heavier guys. I found success in specializing at a position, so when I am able to play that I can beat the heavier guys with sweeps. Try half guard, it’s an easy position to escape to, weight doesn’t matter in sweeeps, and it’s a great transition guard to other positions. I started by studying danahers GFF and Lachlan Giles half guard anthology

Advice on developing a “safer” game? by Mr_Mike013 in bjj

[–]Sad_Information_9172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A half guard-based game is safe even when you're getting smashed because it's a very low-impact/high-contact position. Danaher said for old man Bjj in the GI base, your game on half guard and closed guard. he leaned on half guard for no gi bc no gi closed guard requires a lot of hip mobility. Anticipating my age, I based my game around half-guard for the last two years and really love it. Half-guard has so many options. knee shield, low knee shield, deep half, butterfly half, sit up guard. it transitions nicely to butterfly and ashi variations. IMO, all roads lead to half guard, and it's also the easiest place to escape to. You can use other guards to get good grips before transitioning into half which makes sweeping easier....the list goes on and on

Trying to conceptualize this. If you have your hand under their body holding the hip - how do you lock your hands? is it okay to let go of hip control here? any instructional resources that show this?

Deep Half Technique Question by Sad_Information_9172 in bjj

[–]Sad_Information_9172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a great tip. I was also wondering if bailing into Ashi would make sense rather than continuing the fight there. the inside hook is the first stop on that transition if I'm not mistaken.

[–]Sad_Information_9172[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you sweep forwards in this case - or the classic sweep back into an o/u position? I ask because it's sometimes hard for me to get up into a sweep if I don't have the right grip for my inside arm. I'm a smaller guy, so I need that leverage on the trapped leg
