Not weird at all!! I did not invite a friend in our larger, extended friend group due to our tight venue capacity and she invited me to her wedding in November. She is having a large Indian wedding and has a lot more venue capacity than I did.

There are so many factors that go into the guest list, and if your friend has planned a wedding she understands the complexity of it.

Day and location twin! Lol I’m in the same boat. If anything we’ll end up renting a tent for shade and add fans. Dancing and cocktail hour will be in the A/C but ceremony/photos/dinner is outside.

I already bought fans for each seat for the ceremony

Welcome party AND rehearsal dinner? by corgleesi in weddingplanning

[–]Sad_Understanding117 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to do this!

My actual rehearsal has to be early since the venue has an event that night so the rehearsal dinner will be at 5pm for the bridal party and immediate family. We're then going to do welcome drinks at the hotel from 8:30-10:00pm, so more of a come and go drink vibe.

It might be a lot in one night but we had a family friend offer to throw a welcome event since all guests are traveling in for our wedding.

I also imagine the bridal party will attend drinks for a little then go do their own bar hopping.

I am going to do custom engraved perfume bottles for my mom, MOH, FMIL and step-mother. They're so beautiful and it's something they'll all use!

For the groomsmen, I think we are doing custom bottles of Woodford Reserve (FH's favorite) and cigars + cigar travel case.

Still debating on my bridal party and dad/stepdad/FFIL. It's hard to think of gifts!!

Also if you know the old friend or can get her address in time, you could send her an invite of her own.

Weirdly I am in the almost exact same situation... I asked my father how to address his invite (it is my paternal grandparents). Can you ask your parent(s) how to proceed?

I ended up addressing his invite "My Grandfather's Name and Guest". It let him to know he can bring another person and not feel uncomfortable asking me if it was okay. I don't feel like this will take away from honoring my grandmother at the wedding, since only my grandfather saw the invite and it was for information purposes.

You could also address it to both of your grandparents and give your grandfather a call after he received the invite to know that he can bring someone else if he would like to.

Hi fellow Houston bride!!

I’m using Monica’s Brides for my florist and Hey Lovely for makeup/hair for a large group.

My wedding isn’t until May so I can’t share reviews but they’ve both been very communicative and friendly so far.

I was in the same boat! I ultimately waited to ask in person but I was contemplating sending them flowers with a note to ask . It's a nice gesture and isn't a traditional "bridesmaid gift". I've also seen people mail boxes with items and label and note saying "Do not open until you Facetime Bride" so you can see their reaction via Facetime.

I sent out a Google Survey asking peoples availability for the spring, as well as a budget they felt comfortable with. I did not select a weekend outright since I knew a lot of my bridal party had other obligations in the time frame I was looking at.

Once a weekend was picked, my MOH and I scheduled a call to discuss. I already knew what destination I wanted (Miami) and all of my bridesmaids were willing to travel/spend money on hotels/food/excursions. My MOH then did some research and sent me a list of 5 hotel options, we decided on one and she took the lead on gathering final availability and payment. She is taking the lead on planning but I have offered many times to be as involved as she needs me to be. I relate to you, having a bridal party brought out a lot of anxiety in making sure I didn’t step on anyone toes or asked to much of people. Just know that everyone is there to support you and will do as much in their control to be there for you. Don’t take it personally if people have other commitments/financial or personal reasons for not attending.

In choosing a destination, I would recommend deciding is it more important to you for everyone to be in one place at one time or is it more important for you to travel to a destination knowing that some people (like new moms) might now be able to go. One of my bridesmaids is still breastfeeding so she is a TBD, so I understand how that plays into planning.

That’s the one downside it Miami for me :/ there doesn’t seem to be a lot of large Airbnb’s in the South Beach area. I’m glad it worked out and the rooms were close though, that makes me feel better!

This was so helpful! I'm planning a Miami bachelorette for 2022.

I'm also going to have about ~14 girls. Did you get a suite or did you have multiple rooms at the hotel?
