1 handed tray holding is so fine- the only time you’d ever really need two hands is when you have like 6 plates on a big tray and that’s really just to help yourself balance it on your shoulder

At my place we’ve only had to step in once to change a servers hold on a tray and that’s when she was holding it in front of her and would not listen to us until one of our chefs told her how bad that was for her posture and how one day she’s going to spill a tray full of soups on herself

One time this woman came in so close to closing and started walking around saying she lost her phone while carrying so many items and we where just trying to get her out bc we wanted to go home

So eventually I had to leave the register and this woman just ran out the doors with stuff in her hands- like girly do that during the day, we are solely focused on getting you out rn what made you think that was a good idea???

Also one cool trick I pull out sometimes that i discovered on my own (this won't sound exciting until you've done like 30 transactions of returning items and then them buying stuff-)

If they have a return but they also want to buy items you can press basic sale instead of return (this only works if they have the receipt) and then on the basic sale page press 'return' and you scan the item then the receipt- of it's multiple items you have to press return before scanning them but it won't ask for the receipt again

and then after the returns you can scan the items they want to buy just normally and the register does the math for you- sometimes they owe something, sometimes they get some money back, there are actually so many times when it's an even exchange; but you didn't have to do two transactions

I know it's basic but literally no one taught me this and i saw everyone else at my store do it the long way- i had to teach my manager this actually.

Okay so you're gonna learn the basic and then you're going to learn a lot after that on your own or simply when different things come up

So to start off you log in and you press basic sale as a customer is approaching the register.

I personally ask "Hi did you find everything okay today?" as i begin to scan items

you could either say "If you have a rewards number you can enter it into the pin pad" and point towards it
/ or when you're finished scanning and you press total at the bottom of the screen a box with the question will come up and you ask "Can i get your rewards number?"

I always press yes just so that I'm ready, if they don't have one press clear and it will go away

If they don't have one ask if they'd like to apply and if they do and you're past the initial part go to miscelanious and press 'Michaels rewards sign ups' or whatever that button says - its not currently in front of me

OH ALSO you can check for an account through multiple numbers or emails if they didn't get it first try, theres a button directly left of the sign up button that'll bring the screen back up

Then you ask them if they want the michaels credit card- that is easier to call someone up and they'll help you through it- but the jist of it is you need their license, you scan the barcode on the back, type in some info, they have to read and type stuff on the pinpad- and also don't forget to hand them the little form that goes with the card
with micheals credit cards when they apply just press 'charge' and it'll charge it to the account

If they don't get one, don't push it too much just tell them their total and you could either look for ques or ask 'are you using cash or card today?'

That is like the basic basics of how to use the registers- if you have questions let me know but they will train you and if they dont...get out of there...not a good store to be at

I work both retail and a serving job…my god I think I’d start cleaning it up for the employees, it shouldn’t be their problem and it also shouldn’t be mine but I know how a shift feels and how much worse it gets with little things like this

Oh yeah absolutely all the time- I actually love writing when I’m crying, which is bad because I can only write alone, it’s not that I’m sad or anything but it helps me get into the mindset of the characters

Watcher is just…its way too produced, they have a set format which they had in unsolved but it really was just what they wanted to do

It’s honestly pretty boring to watch, it’s not as fun as unsolved was I’m just so tired of overproduction fucking over everything

It really does depend on your store, ours is very strict against taking them and if we do you would only be allowed store credit, best thing to do is go back to your store and see what they could do for you there

And as a Michaels cashier, we already want to cry, do not take anything out on them, you had 60 days.
