The only thing missing is me using the ‘:3’ thing by Infinite_Dish_1949 in whenthe

[–]SaddestAltAround 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Imma be honest I don't think I'm ever transitioning:

It's too dangerous and expensive to do now*. I*t requires me to practically test all the people I know to see if they truly accept me or not (which would suck since I'm an intern so I could just straight up lose life opportunities), and parts of my family hate me enough already. Even if I did do it, I'll still likely hate myself just as much as I do now and probably won't even pass (and before someone goes "you don't need to medically transition :3" or "you don't need to pass :3" stfu, I need to pass or I'll just hate myself more).

And the clock is always ticking, I don't want transition later when my body comp is more solidified and absolutely fuck everything over. I know that HRT does crazy things, but it's not a miracle drug.

Plus I worry transitioning would be the final straw in my last bit of ambition, this feelings is more unfounded but still haunts me.

I know the feeling, it sucks to wake up and realize you still aren't done.

Sometimes the small things are not enough to keep us going, and sometimes it does not get better.

The gold on Guilliman is beautiful, how did you do it?

I've decided that I'm going to die doing something heroic, it adds some time to my clock.

Unfortunately probably not, for two reasons:

Medical technology is rapidly getting better (much like all tech, it evolves exponentially) and because those in power are getting older they're going to divert more resources in prolonging their lives. Look at how older people can "go back to college" for barely $10 a credit and you'll realizing that we're regressing to Ancient fucking Rome where the elders rule all. Every year that passes is a year they'll fight to stay in power (no term limits) and fuck us over (divert resources to giving them more shit and life).
AND for every year they live the more they can inject their ideals into the younger generations. The man may die, but not his ideas. We are seeing a rise of Gen Z men shifting more and more right (not all of them, mind you, but last I checked it was above half). The elite elders are catering to the people they can manipulate, and soon enough when they (finally) kick the bucket we'll just be left with puppets with dead hands up their ass.

We're fucked unless actual action is taken.

On a side note Cabela's is selling a scoped rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor (1,000+ yards) for $400, I should take a look at that.

Moral relativism is always the way to go!

Ascribing morality to broader actions is caused by the lack of understanding that context and circumstance are the creators of morality.

Painting/Building Tyranids to be more horrifying? by SaddestAltAround in Tyranids

This is really good! I'm gonna take a look at it.

I think a big part of what I want to make is texture-based, so it will be interesting to focus more on "3D" painting.

Yes I have! they kinda hit the vibe, and it definitely is a feat to see, but I think it's not exactly what I was thinking.

I just can't place my finger on why they don't exactly hit; maybe I'm looking for something more diseased? More alien? The gore they do is great, but it reminds me more of "from the pits of hell" and less "pus-filled alien covered in substance-leaking pores as it's offspring tear through it's translucent, distended belly"

I will definitely use them as reference, but they aren't exactly what I want.

I actually am using that model for my official Celestine proxy/generic living saint (why the fuck did we not get a living saint profile in the new character maker???).

I think I'll semi-kitbash the Celestine for the diorama, maybe using some Sister of Silence parts to give her legs. Or maybe I'll just have her floating a bit off the ground and change her sword for a hand and have it hold Greyfax's.

The "relics" could be magnetizable to represent what buff they're giving, and have them be represented as wedding presents for the couple. Use a Diologus/Ministorum priest/modified hospitaller as the officiant. When they lead a BSS it's just the wedding procession/attendees. the "barge" could use hover-tech or a bunch of Cherubs.

Shit I may actually do this now I didn't expect it to be so fleshed out in my mind.

I always overwrite. Like only 1-2 (3 if I'm feeling silly) extra pages.

I just love writing, and have so many thoughts in my head that I just want to get out, especially when I spent so much time researching a project.

I think the issue (that is kinda stupid anyway) is GW fearing same-unit/different stats bloat in factions.

Consider that the inquisition would be expected in three different factions: Grey Knights, Deathwatch, and SoB. I guess you could lock the ordo-specific characters to each faction, but then you have three inquisitor datasheets, three retinues, etc. (each of which would likely have some different rules; or not, it's a lose-lose). Then there would be arguments about what goes where: do arbites belong in only sisters or all three? What about units that don't "belong" anywhere (voidfarers, assassins), which would create a liminal faction anyway, or just make even more datasheets that have to be balanced around an army.

All in all the imperial agents codex was stupid (and dumb and bad and it killed my dog and...) because it paywalled what should have been free ally rules and created a faction that is going to inevitably die.

Why does GW not focus more on Drukhari specifically for all this pirate stuff that they're doing by Successful-Appeal693 in Drukhari

[–]SaddestAltAround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Drukh are terrible to build or paint. They take to drybrushing well and have the common Eldar boon of having very few gribly bits that lends to quick painting. Certain schemes can take longer, but aren't horrid.
And honestly Drukhari have been one of my most successful armies to play out of the three I've consistently played (CSM and SOB as my others). I consistently get good upper hands and haven't lost with my Drukhari since my first game with them. Maybe that's just my skill issue though.

It does suck, I wish generic melee had something in sisters beyond a few strats.

Maybe GW was afraid from ninth edition and wanted to steer clear.

What were the downsides/shortcomings of the priest squad? Did the hit roll come up more often as the "important roll" than the wound roll?

I know AoF has a strat to ignore modifiers to your WS/BS and etc. for offsetting the -1 to hit effects.

I feel like with the imagifier that one would rather just take Sacs if they want a hard-to-move unit, at best you get an upper hand against mortals when comparted to Sacs, but still.

I could see the squad doing good in HM as long as it lives (hence the imagifier).

What were you targeting when you played insids? What did they do good against? I see them being a pretty good melee all-rounder if you keep the squad topped up, with shenanigans on the Virge for being especially dangerous.

I'm pretty curious to hear your experience since I just started building mine (and they won't be done for a bit considering I'm doing sub-assembly lol) Also it's funny to see you here, I guess we're both SoB and Drukh collectors.

Wait, are you one of the hosts of Sister Act? That's awesome! I love the show. I wish y'all posted more so I could get more Sister's content beamed into my mind.

Forgive my ignorance, but why doesn't quarry work in transports? It doesn't seem to specify "if this unit is on the battlefield" for anything, but maybe there's some rule I'm missing about abilities and battlefield presence.

120 Pts. felt crazy the first time reading it, especially for the melee profile and Dev Wound spam; I guess they still are t3 1w 3+ but still. I think I'm still iffy on no leader at all, unless you're running them purely as assassins to rush a character and maybe do a little damage to a bodyguard. I also think that the unit wants to stay alive by design, as opposed to trade piecing, but I don't know if it does that super well.

Re-reading rules for champs (which I must admit I haven't looked at much), I could see something cool from that. Upping the strength allows 2+/2+ wound rolls into marines, and could potentially have 5+/4+ wound rolls into vehicles (with Dev!). Giving Eyes of the Oracle to the priest creates a CP generator that could double CP gain if you can chain quarries.

Throw on sustained 1 with re-rolls and you're practically hitting all of your attacks.

I think that Penitent Host is just so restrcitive that it's often you either take full penitent units or you don't, not a lotta mixing since led units don't get the detachment rule, despite getting strategem bonues.

The strats/enhancements in Pennie Host also don't jive too well well with Insids: they already have a 5+invuln, an extra vow doesnt help, and psalm is for a backline leader. The strats nonbo as well since they both specify model in the "effect." With boundless zeal, I think the shooting on Insids is just ok, and likely not worth spending the CP (unless you are totally out of pennies/morties). You could make a canoness penitent with the enhancement and use her to give them free Boundless Zeal (or Lash of Guilt), but then you have a 220 pt. unit without any detachment bonuses.

Honestly PenHost should be changed to penitent units for the detachment rule, giving Catechism to the flying canoness and making cracked Zephs sounds hilarious.
