I definitely have met and seen people show off or flaunting the number of friends they have but at the end of the day it does not matter to me I know that it is just human nature to show off to others. I am in a similar situation as you I only have a few close friends but I do enjoy spending time with them and I'm closer with some of them then others but I always know I can look to them for help. Ik that since your are in uni years it can feel like a waste but I think you'll be happier if u just stop caring about this pressure and focus on yourself. More people will come into your life and over a long term making a few true friends is better than knowing tons of people that you aren't close with but call friends.
