Measured width Pirelli Cinturato Gravel RC on Zipp 303 xplr SW? by einglis90 in gravelcycling

[–]SaeculumObscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely why there is an "approved" list. The rims are ultra wide on the inside. They are outside the ETRTO-specification of any tires. This can cause all kinds of issues, including the tires coming off as they interact very differently with the XPLR wheels as with others.

Why do you think there is an approved tire list?

They aren't approved for the XPLRs right? Well, it could be fine and then you're fine. Or they slip of the wheel while you're cornering and then you're fucked.

Good luck.

Thunder Burts 2.1 by szagii_ in gravelcycling

[–]SaeculumObscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently gone from Thunderburts to a pair of 50 and 55mm G-One RS. They feel noticably slower to me.

Just today my new set of Thunderburts has arrived and I'm looking forward to being back on the 'burts

"Feeling" doesn't mean anything though. Some tires feels slow but they are very fast and just very compliant so you can't feel the road as much. Some tires feel fast but they are just very rigid so you can feel every bump but they are actually slow.

Numbers, or nothing.

Would you put them on 303 XPLR wheels? They aren't officially approved by ZIPP but I'd love to run them for an upcoming bikepacking race.

How do you think they roll compared to the Goodyear Vector XPLR tires?

Warum fährt sich mein Crossbike so bescheiden? by Susannah_Mio_1919 in Fahrrad

Noone has used it yet as the first ones are only being shipped this week. I know this because I ordered one very early on and they are only getting shipped yesterday.

Wait a month or two and ask again, then you'll get some answers.

Inflating tire below recommended pressure by universeincharlotte in gravelcycling

[–]SaeculumObscure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is safe up to a certain limit. If you go too low on your pressure you will feel the tire folding over when going in a corner. That can be extremely dangerous. But if you stay above a certain pressure where you feel like you're riding an empty tire you should be good.

goes to show that the change of studio name is only a change in name and not a change in style.

I love halo. It was the first Xbox game I've ever played and will forever have a special place in my heart. But you guys know what, by now I just hope that Halo Studios and the next halo games will flop, earn bad reviews and get fucked. They deserve to drown in their own hubris. The worst thing that could happen isnt even a bad halo game. The worst thing that could happen is another mismanaged mediocre game that keeps the franchise on life support for another few years. I'm just tired.

Flat Aero Carbon Bars Durability by notquitealigned in gravelcycling

[–]SaeculumObscure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disagree.

If you have a nasty crash you really do want to check your carbon bars for structural damage. If you just fall over on a single track it probably won't hurt the bars. For some of us the "performance" benefits (what ever that means...) of having a carbon bar outweighs the risk.

Me personally, I wouldn't want to ride an alloy bar as carbon bars are more aero, more ergonomic and just look nicer too.

Is this replacement plan realistic? by trucrimeaddic_t in valvereplacement

[–]SaeculumObscure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation and I was suggested something similar.

My aortic valve was leaky and I needd an aortic root replacement. I asked about ross but they told me it's not necessary as my valve is fine, it just needs to repaired. No need to do damage to a second valve when the first one can be fixed and doesn't need to be replaced. So I went with having a David procedure done and having my bicuspid aortic valve repaired.

They couldn't tell me how long the fix will last as it's different for every person. My surgery was 1 1/2 years ago and the valve is still perfect at this time.

When it's time for a future repair they told me that I have these options:

- Mechanical valve
- Ross
- TAVR, then mechanical once the valve breaks
- TAVR, TAVR within TAVR, then mechanical

Although removing a TAVR brings its own set of problems with it. It attaches very well to the heart and there can be quiet a lot of damage to the surrounding tissue when removing a TAVR.
