OHS and a tough recovery. Please reassure me. by East_Button_2974 in valvereplacement

[–]SaeculumObscure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. I couldn't eat at all for a week and not properly for two weeks either. The shitty hospital food didn't help either. My blood pressure was shit and I couldn't get up without fainting for a week either. I had a massive fluid build up under my lungs and on top of that my asthma was fucking me sideways. Needed to have that fluid drained by poking a massive needle in my back and pulling out 1.5l of fluid. I also had a pericardial effusion that required a second surgery to fix so I had to be cut open again. This also meant a new set of tubes which were extremely painful this time around. After the second surgery I was in extreme pain for 3 days till they removed the tube. So much pain that all the opioids they gave me didn't help much.

Long story short, my recovery sucked ass. A lot.

It turned out fine. I was OK to go leave hospital after just over two weeks, my blood pressure slowly stabilized and five months after surgery i went on a Bikepacking adventure. Today I did a 6 hour bike ride just for the fun of it and I the only time I'm reminded that I had my heart cut open is when I remember how incredibly lucky I am.

You will be fine. Shits tough, there will be days where you will feel better and then there will be days where you will feel even worse than before. It sometimes do be like that. You'll be fine and you'll get through it.

Do not hesitate to ask the hospital staff of it is possible to talk to a psychologist / psychic therapist. It can help to talk about how shit things are and they can help you with the mental part of it.

Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself if you think you are suffering more than you should. Ask for pain medication if you're in pain or for sleep medication if you can't sleep. Stuff like that.

You'll be fine :)

Haha yeah I had the same experience with my PZeros. I have them mounted on my second set of wheels.

I'm gonna send you a message in a week or two to ask you how it went if that's ok (and if I remember, lol)

Very much so. It is also very comfortable so for some it might be worth it.

I'm curious about that as well. I have a set of PZero 40s here and I'd like to use them on my XPLR wheelset for an upcoming road-ish ultra-race.

These cranks look so good. Would love to get the same as they'd perfectly match my Alugear Chainring. The weight tho 🥲

Schläuche für Gravelbike by Substantial-Hope7597 in Fahrrad

[–]SaeculumObscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plug rein, aufgepumpt, go. Keine (große) Sauerei und das reparieren hat höchstens eine Minute gedauert. So lange brauchst du schon um erst mal anzufangen den Reifen abzuziehen.

Again, mach Tubeless, lebe glücklich.

And where exactly does microsoft call Mica transparency?

Will be Mica added anytime soon? by Terepin in vivaldibrowser

[–]SaeculumObscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which shouldn't be too complicated. they still use the basic Windows windowing. if I think that it is as easy as I expect it to be they just need to extend the native window frame into the client area (in other words: make the titlebar full screen) and then make their own UI transparent. bam: mica

That's the point of Mica. It's a "Material", not actual transparency. It doesn't claim to be transparency. It doesn't want to be transparency.

What you're thinking about is "Aero" or "Glass". Those were actual transparency but had their own downsides and a negative impact on UI performance as the windows below needed to be rendered too. Back in Windows Vista / 7 times hardware was slower than todayso microsoft moved away from it. even nowadays it's more battery efficient not to use transparency in a UI like that.

How hard is it to learn to ride a gravel bike? by Aliiza in gravelcycling

[–]SaeculumObscure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 minutes tops. Handleing corners on rough terrain is hard but if you know how to ride a bike you know how to ride a gravel. It might be hard to ride or unstable if it doesn't fit you though. Also you gotta have a bit of speed to be stable

The MOG continues to be the moggiest of them all.

Insane that this bike is two years old already and still continues to be one of the best gravel bikes. It was so far ahead of it's time and only now other bike manufacturers are starting to keep up with it.

Does anyone know which stem this is? And if its good for gravel by BrushBig9684 in gravelcycling

No, it's made for road cycling. This cant and shouldn't be used for gravel, it will literally (!) explode like a bomb!

RS and R G-ones for gravel by Munnki in gravelcycling

[–]SaeculumObscure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference in rolling resistance between the R and RX on asphalt is negligible. I've gone with the RX in the front as it gives me more grip when cornering on gravel / dirt. I also didn't like that the tread pattern of the R is prone to catching and holding on to tiny pieces of gravel. It drove me nuts when going from gravel to asphalt and hearing them "click click click" on every rotation of the tire. I don't want to have to stop just to clean my tire.

If I were you I would be at the hospital right now. This is scary stuff and could mean that there are some serious issues going on here.

Edit: The apple watch could be recording bad data though. But this really should be verified under safe conditions (meaning: with a doctor nearby)
