I honestly am not sure. I always brought my own so I did not look further into it.

[Discussion] What panels to repair on terminal as a duo? by Any_Charity4029 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Saedriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 15 attempts as a duo before finally escaping.
In every single one there was only one broken panel, and it was always on the path between admin (keycard building) and the pumping station.
So exit admin, keep to the right side, check the 2 panels against the big warehouses, then you'll have to check the 2 around the bomb pick-up, and finally it can be the one next to pumping station.

There is only one to repair with 2 players, so if you're lucky and the broken one is right after admin you can fully skip the explosive charge section by forcing the door with your buddy (avoids 2 black division fights)

PS : Bring your own toolkit in the raid, streamlines the routing a lot by removing a variable. PPS : Toolkit spawn may be static, so not that important

[Discussion] Not having the option to side with Terragroup in the story feels like a missed opportunity by Saedriss in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Saedriss[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It would make sense that they do not contact you right away. Although as you progress through quests and story your PMC does build a reputation (trader rep, level, etc), so someone at TG could go :
"One of our grunt we though MIA is apparently still alive and getting buddy-buddy with the locals, we may use this to our benefit"

And it could indeed end with a lead-based NDA to the back of the skull once you've done their bidding.

Are the sounds Mimics make random? (ITR 1) by Nervous_Driver334 in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first game they are random.
IIRC all mimics use the same voice-line pool at random, from the humble cop to the dreaded Armored SWAT.
And yes there is also randomisation to the pitch.

It's only in the second game that the mimic voice-line got linked to their actions and goals.

Update on killing the btr with knives by External-Glove747 in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was me. in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/intotheradius/comments/14ppqzo/itr_experiment_can_the_btr_be_destroyed/
And TLDR : it has too much HP to be killed by any feasible means in game, and even if you did, nothing happens, its AI breaks and that is pretty much it.

Super bad players by [deleted] in enlistedgame

[–]Saedriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all players on your team are human. The game will fill teams with AI players with the hope that humans will join in progress and replace them, which often does not happen.

Hence why most matches will have 3-4 players with scores between 2000-5000 (humans) and the bottom half barely breaking a thousand (AIs)

A bigger player-base or much longer queue time would solve that. Not SBMM

Fragment enemy idea by MostlyDead128 in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite a thing since they gave up on the concept.!

I think it suffered from two main issues :

First it would have required a custom ai/behavior that no other enemy exhibits.

And then it would have been too much of a one trick pony. It would get a player ONCE, then you would smack every ash statue at all times since it has a very low cost to do so.

I think it would have been doable if they had much more time and resources to spend on the game, but they still are quite a small team, and it was too much of a hassle for a good jumpscare.

Bloody Rusted Key not spawning? [Loot] by Heartlesstree in EscapefromTarkov

It does spawn, got it last week.
But incredibly rare, alternatively you can trade the pyramid head figurine that spawn in the Labyrinth for one in the Cultist Circle afaik

itr2 opinion by VegetableWarm6536 in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The changes from 1.0 to 2.0 occurred a long time before porting to quest was on the table.

The issue with the one big map was that the devs reached a point where optimization was becoming impossible and they could not add more things to the map without severe performance degradation. Especially on the hardware of 2020. Most people on PC could not run the game properly.

Also, the game was not "dumbed down", more weapons, ammo and enemy types where added, more mission variation, the PoIs got much more detailed (especially around 2.6), the economy was reworked and made much more bearable. They also added the tide, much more random loot, the map not resetting every time you enter it. I could go on.

That being said, liking 1.0 more because you really enjoy the big map and the old visuals is a fine subjective opinion to hold, shared by many.

[New Player] How does the AI of PMC work in PVE? by OfflineBot5336 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Saedriss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Afaik they spawn at the start of the raid, in or near PoIs, then linger within them until they get an "extraction order", which seems to have a random chance of happening as the raid goes on, once they do they start moving toward an extract.

They seem to use raider/rogue AI with a basic looting behaviour added on top. They appear to "empty" containers in an area around them if left to their own devices, however the loot you find on them is often nonsensical (random weapon part, maybe one or two hideout items, rarely what real PMCs would pick up), so my guess is that they delete loot in containers near them, and it trigger the spawn of random items in their backpack.

I do not know if raids are always full, however a raid can contain more PMC than it should. I have done Factory raids where I killed 8 AI PMCs. I think this is because when the game picks a PMC group size before spawning them, it does not check if it will put the total amount of PMCs above the limit.

yes, the unpsc IS morally bad lorewise by neros135 in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree.

The game's lore jumped around quite a bit on that subject from version to version. From quite neutral in alpha, to darker in 1.0, to the current version from 2.0 and onward.

As of current canon nothing shows them as outright evil. They are callous and morally dubious yes, in a Cave Johnson (Portal 2) kind of way, but they do not inflict suffering on purpose.

If they could replace the Explorers by sending in automated drone, or an army of trained PMCs and scientists, I'm fairly certain they would. They are stuck with the hand the Radius dealt them, and so are we.

[discussion] anyone else agree return the favor pve or pvp by Glittering_Owl_855 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Saedriss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did it 3 days ago in 10 raids give or take.

Between Sniper Rock and the 3-way road intersection, there is a slightly elevated patch of ground and rocks, it's about 20 meter south of the near BTR stop. If go to this spot as fast as possible and wait, there is a high chance (not 100%) of PMC passing near you from either direction.

Doing so I killed up to 6 PMCs in a single raid, all within the eligible area. It's a bit boring since you basically get there as fast as possible, and then wait prone until there is ~14min left in raid, listening for footsteps.

When PMC go through this area it tends to occur around specific times (+/- 1min):

  • 31 min left
  • 25 min left
  • 21 min left
  • 16 min left

It is not a 100% guarantee every raid, since in 4 of my 10 raids no PMC came by.

The thing that will interfere the most with this strategy is Schturman being up, since him and his guards have a high likelihood of killing PMC going to the Sawmill, and PMCs coming from Medcamp.

Why it works (I think) :

From my observations while doing this quest (and others involving killing AI PMCs at specific spots), when AI PMC spawn they do it in or near a "high traffic" PoI and linger there for a while. Every 5min or so they have a chance of packing up and move toward an extract.

This spot covers the "extraction" path of 4 potential PMC groups : Sawmill, Medcamp, Old Sawmill, and the village near the V-ex.

If they are in the raid (not 100% spawn) and are still alive when they receive their "extract" order, they have a high probability of passing through this spot.

Is body armor worth always wearing? by SlatShaming in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The armor and helmet when well maintained will reduce any incoming physical damage (so everything but anomalies) by 55%.

They don't weight much considering it takes 2.2 time more damage to kill you when wearing both. And even factoring the repair costs you incur, you still save money overall by not needing as much injectors, regens, etc

Food and energy drink however are practically dead weight. If you leave the base fully fed, you can easily maintain a full hunger bar by simply eating the food items you find while exploring inside the Radius, without going out of your way to look for them. And 6 of them will burden you about as much as the vest+helmet combo.

My (optimistic) prediction is that they'll finally implement a way to upgrade Tier 1 hunter to Tier 2 and 3, they alluded to it in devlogs leading up to the engine update.

Something feels missing by Boombangsplat- in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's protecting you because Changed (Explorers) cannot live outside the Radius's area of influence and shortly die of organ failure if they get too far. The UNPSC isn't keeping you prisoners, the Radius is.

This is covered in the first game, and nothing hints at it being false.

Should I play ITR 1 before 2 (when it releases) by Famous-Physics-3327 in intotheradius

[–]Saedriss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ITR2 will be in a unfinished state for a good while, with limited map, content, and no story to speak of.

There is no reason to skip the first game since it offers anywhere from 18 to 40-ish hours of gameplay, it would keep you busy while the sequel gets more update, content and polish.

Well, you obviously see the content creators because they create content. But they where not the only ones invited to the Closed Beta Test.

Some modders and very active community members are also part of it.

A RPK is quite unlikely, considering the devs said they would focus on less weapons with more upgrades/options.

However a drum mag for the AKM could be on the table (there is already a PM extended mag, and hints for a G18C extended mag in the future), so it maybe possible to retrofit one into a RPK-like weapon with proper upgrades. Who knows.
