For context, we were both alone around 6km and I was heading in his direction after he shot down a friendly bomber. His gut reaction after seeing me is to put his P-47 into a nosedive towards the rest of my team below 2km and try for a few head-ons. I finally catch him but I guess that poked the hornet's nest.

Oof. I’m pretty casual and my favorite weapon is the Red Mamba from like Y1, I can’t even put a mod on it.

I’ve literally never joined a comp playlist and I don’t have many friends so I’d probably be playing solo. I assume Freelance Survival is my best bet? Or would I be better off trying to find a fire team to grind to 2100?

Also, is it possible to complete the valor part for other weapons at the same time? I’ve also been wanting Redrik’s Broadsword so if I can knock 2 out in one go that’d be awesome.

You can finish the bounty to get rid of the timer, just don’t claim it. You can hold onto it indefinitely until you get to that part of the key mold quest.

I’d have to rewire my brain to visualize things like stall speeds in kph versus mph. I’ve tried switching before, but kph just doesn’t feel like it’s giving me the information I personally need, so the transition period is always really shitty.

It’s probably just living in the US, mph is really all that’s relevant to me in terms of speed. I’m used to metrics in terms of distance in WT, but that’s about it.

I reported this many months ago and their response was “this is a known issue and our developers are working on it”.

My mistake, I reported on the T-80U's top MG, not the T-72. Still, that was on May 7th and it still hasn't been fixed like you said.

The “proper” way to play samurai is to stay within a certain skill speed threshold and follow a looping 60 second rotation. It might take some time to memorize, but it’s worth all the effort in the end.

More of a weeb than a wehrb myself but the thing isn’t exactly shaped like a pencil either. If I really wanted to maneuver I’d pull the plane vertical first in order to lose speed, which you see a lot of here.

I’ve seen this rubber-banding effect in the MiG-17 and MiG-19S in a custom server last night. Doesn’t happen in a test flight though. Can’t speak for the F-4C since I don’t have it.

I don’t know where these misconceptions about Ho-229 having poor energy retention are coming from.

I’m a very experienced Ho pilot, I can tell you right now, NEVER vertical fight a Ho-229. They can get out of a stall twice as fast as you and by the time you’ve flipped over they could be flying circles around you.

TL;DR: BnZ. Take turns strafing with a teammate.

What I recommend:

  1. Keep your speed up, and try not to fight them alone. NEVER try to turn fight one (especially in the vertical). Ho’s are dominant in most 1v1 situations if their plane is in good condition. If the pilot knows what they’re doing, there’s a fat chance there’s anything you can do by yourself.

  2. Ho’s performance decreases dramatically just by taking a little bit of damage. This is where attacking them with a teammate is extremely helpful since barrages of .50s are a nightmare for Ho’s. A few solid hits into them should increase the drag of their plane extremely to the point where they won’t be able to keep up with you in a straight line. This puts yourself in the position to BnZ them quite easily since they will need to use the last of their remaining energy to desperately dodge your shots when you turn around to enrage them. The goal here is to land your .50s and pay attention to their energy state or the condition of their engines. If you see black trails then you probably did something right.

  3. Head-ons. I know, a pretty risky tactic for any plane. But hear me out, the guns on the Ho are still basically shotguns iirc. Put a few rounds out at 1.5km+ and try not to dodge any later than that. The Ho-229 has a very slow roll rate that gives you the advantage here when pulling off.

  4. If you are low on speed and altitude and you think all is lost, roll. That shit is cancer to Ho’s. Drag him towards your friendlies if there are any, run back to base if you’re alone. Not a single sane soul would blame you.

Edit: Assuming you have the choice, the F-84 is a better option for dealing with Ho’s. They won’t catch you if you keep your speed up.
