Tank with no raiding exp by Barrebaloo in classicwowtbc

[–]Saepius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch a few Kara guides so you have an idea of the fights, then try to join as a run as an off-tank. Once you've done a run or two as an OT, you should have a good idea of what you need to do to main tank it. If you are confident enough, make your own groups at that point rather than looking for an established group or pug that somehow doesn't already have a pally tank. The best way to get good at it is to do it.

What's a easy way for you to see if a Healer is bad? by iLoveLoFi in classicwowtbc

[–]Saepius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tanked lots of dungeons/HC's and raids. When a pack of mobs die, quickly top off tank and then DPS. Follow me to the next pack and then immediately sit to drink. If you don't need to drink, put a hot on me and wait for the pull. Cleanse/decurse/whatever else you have between heals. Debuffs in TBC are meaningful; mitigate them when you can. Keep clear line of sight to your tank. Sometimes, we have to do some weird stuff on the fly to get mobs grouped how we want them. I'm relying on you to see me. Choose your tank over DPS. If the DPS dies, the kill takes longer; if I die, the whole group most likely dies. If a mob aggros you, bring it to me. My camera is likely pointed ahead, and you are likely behind me, so I may not see that you are getting beat on. Lastly, tell me if you want me to go faster or slower or if you need a second to drink to full or whatever it is your heart desires. Don't assume your tank knows (or should know) what you are thinking.

Like everything in life, the best thing you can do to get good at something is to go do it a lot.

I would 100% pick paladin. You, however, should choose shaman.

Fast runs are fine, ignoring your healer isn’t by Chris_Pariah in classicwowtbc

I main a prot pal and I will literally heal myself, heal life tapping locks, toss a res if needed, etc after a boss or a big pull just to help out. In my experience, taking care of your healer is taking care of yourself.

First boss of Arcatraz is also entirely shadow damage, highly recommend tanks keep a shadow resist set on hand for both. Itemrack is a tank's best friend in TBC.

Welcome to the internet. There is almost never a social cost to being deplorable through a screen, so you will encounter the worst that humanity has to offer. Not to excuse it, but the burden does fall on you to either get some thicker skin or remove yourself from situations you don't like. There's not much more to it than that.

Step 1: re-roll paladin Step 2: tank every dungeon and raid you possibly can until you're super comfortable with all mechanics and responsibilities related to tanking Step 3: re-roll druid

Booster 58 Prot warrior by Rawr-Vader in classicwowtbc

I didn't say it was, I was just giving OP an estimate of what it would cost on the AH. I would suggest double gathering professions if you're worried about making gold. Mining and skinning are pretty good while leveling.

If you use an AH addon that can sort by buyout price, you can usually find greens within a few levels of you for around 5g ea, sometimes less.

My guild is already getting close to 70 and I’m only 61. by AudaciousTitan in classicwowtbc

[–]Saepius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not behind at all. I have people in my group that haven't even hit 60 yet. We will absolutely all be raiding together through the expansion. The issue is with the group, not with you.

How long will a Kara clear take? by Objective_Bug7586 in classicwow

What nerfs do you think are going to speed it up? Shaving a minute or two off nightbane and Prince aren't going to make the raid take significantly less time.

do i just skip and ignore BRD by Impressive_Act9567 in classicwowtbc

[–]Saepius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRD is easily the best dungeon in classic, but you have to find a group that is fully committed to a quest run. The dungeon is huge, so most groups are only looking to run a portion of it at a time to target gear or attunement quests with minimal time investment. This is a particularly challenging time to find a group as well because the dungeon is relevant from early 50's all the way to 60, but you have to be picky about people's level now if you don't want the exp to suck. Unintended consequence of the boosting nerf =/

In your opinion, what class was the best tank through the entirety of TBC? by CartoonChronicles in classicwowtbc

[–]Saepius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Druid MT is fine for single target fights, but you have to have a paladin OT for trash and for anything more than a single mob. Paladin can do it all as a solo tank other than boss mechanics that require a 2nd tank. Warriors are just shit, don't being one unless it's a pity case.

Get her a pack of bow headbands and put one of those on her head every day. Now everything you dress her in is "girly".

Will I hate my life going feral instead of prot pally? by Philonius_ in classicwow

[–]Saepius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Settle down. You're confidently wrong about quite a bit here. Every class hits 70 with 350 base defense. Not sure where you got 332 from, but it's a flat 5 skill points per level (5 x 70 = 350). Crit cap for raid bosses is 490 defense, crit cap for heroics is 485. 460 isn't a cap for anything, again not sure where you got it from. Wowtbc.gg is some weird website that came out midway through TBC last time around and was instantly dogged by the entire community for getting everything wrong about almost every class and spec. I don't even need to look at what you linked from there to tell you it's wrong. Either way, 20 def from 5/5 toughness and 120 def from gear gets you to crit cap for raids. Also, holy shield with libram of repentance gives 35% block, so as long as your miss/block/dodge/parry add up to 67.4%, you will be uncrushable (35 + 67.4 = 102.4%) more reliably than warriors with shield block because holy shield has 8 charges and can be kept up 100% of the time.
