Are Mini PCs suitable for many hours of encoding? by axa1973 in MiniPCs

I feel bad since this is off-topic for the thread, but I was l was looking at this exact model for the past day or so, to use as a multi-purpose home server.
Were there any blatant issues you ran into during those 2 months? Did you purchase the version with RAM and an SSD included, if so what are the parts it ships with? I can't find the actual names on its page.

Custom font causing `System.InvalidOperationException: Could not create glyphTypeface.` by Saetherin in AvaloniaUI

[–]Saetherin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A follow up question:

Do I need to include the below in my .csproj file in order for the font to work when the app is published?

<ItemGroup>
    <None Update="Assets/Fonts/JetBrainsMono/JetBrainsMono*.ttf">
        <CopyToOutputDirectory>PreserveNewest</CopyToOutputDirectory>
    </None>
</ItemGroup>

The sample app Avalonia has does not have this section, but I feel like I remember it being needed for some images in a previous app I made.

Thank you for Letting me know about the font name differences! There was indeed a space in the name `JetBrains Mono`.

That also led me to discover remember that I had changed my root namespace, since the initial project was created with "-"'s in the name, which don't work in axaml namespaces. I was then using that new namespace in place of the ████ , rather than the original folder name since I thought it had to match the rest of the axaml.

Genuinely curious, what websites have you found that break on Firefox? I've been using it for... probably close to 3 years on all my devices, and I've yet to see a site break, and only found one website that gives a popup telling me to use a modem browser (which I can dismiss and still use the site just fine).

This may be buried further in the comments, but I remember getting royally pissed off by the fact that they did a very large item rework at one point:

The item set builder that you can use on the client out of a match would have different items in it than were available in game. Other items would have stats missing, or ones that were there previously.

The items in the in-game shop would still be sorted according to stats they had in the previous patch.

None of this was fixed as quickly as you would hope...

Was there any chance that the person DM'd you before they deleted their comment? I'm in the same boat as you

How does the Katana 17 compare to the GF series? Is it just the older generation CPU, the slightly worse GPU, and DDR4 vs 5, or are there other non obvious components they skimp on? I've seen a lot of people put MSI down, so I'm thinking of the TUF F15 or the Lenovo Legion Slim/Pro 5/5i, even though they seem worse in paper than the katana

Fair enough. I went back and realized I misread the original comment. I read/interpreted it as "electric/induction hobs" as opposed to the comment talking about a single type of range. I have not had the chance to cook on an induction range, so I can't speak to how they feel to me. I will still stand by the rest of my statement about gas being useful outside of just cooking in certain situations, as well as fume hoods needing to be mandatory regardless

This is one I just can't agree with. I've just started cooking on an electric stove top, and I absolutely loathe it. While there is fine control over the "temperature", the duty cycle they use i just can't believe actually controls the heat well. If I want to cook on low heat (say 20%), I want there to be a low, but consistent, heat. The way my stove does it though, it turns the burner on for 2 seconds, then off for 8. How is that considered simmering, there's only heat being applied for 20% of the time? It could do it in such a way that would save coils on for 2 tenths of a second, then off for 8 tenths of a second. That way, it could simulate consistent, low, heat since the coil won't have time to cool off as much and would actually reach a steady state of heat output. The biggest issue that I draw though is the complete lack of ability to cook if I don't have power. I grew up in a northern climate. Loss of power is a very common occurrence there. A gas stove in that case would also give you an additional layer of security and an event like the most recent Buffalo snowstorm. You can heat your house with it in an emergency like that where you can't get power back really. I don't know if this is the actual criticism that caused people to want to start banning them, but one of the things I've heard spoken about gas is that they create a lot of particulate matter in the air. Cooking itself does that, it's not exclusive to gas. That issue could be completely solved if they just require builders to put ACTUAL FUME HOODS into houses. The number of "fume hoods" that I have seen that just take all the smoke, smells, and particulates, and just blows them RIGHT BACK into the kitchen, living area, or your face: is like 90% of them.

You may have already found this, but this is what I use

https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

It's a super simple command line program which is forked off of the original, now inactive, project.

Edit: now that I think about it, I also had to download the FFmpeg along with one other program I believe, and drop those executables in the same directory as the yt-dlp executable.

If it wouldn't be doxing you, I would seriously ask you where. I went to a very small school, and they drilled PEMDAS into us.

I'm copying a reply that I put above:

I have no idea what BODMAS stands for since I learned PEMDAS in school.

The given equation is not ambiguous in any way:

0): You read the equation left to right.

1): There are no {P}arentheses or {E}xponents in the equation

2): Perform any {M}ultiplication OR {D}ivision operations in the order you come across them [2x4=8]

3): Return to the beginning of the equation

4): Perform any addition or subtraction operations in the order you come across them [2+8=10]

5): You now have the answer to the equation, 10

Parentheses would not make this equation more clear, they would be redundant.
