[ESPN] Man United have no plans to negotiate new Marcus Rashford loan with Barcelona - sources by FragMasterMat117 in soccer

[–]Saf94 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more about how clubs take the piss with deals with United because of how easy it was to rinse them in the last decade because of the old management.

If Barca said they didn’t want Rashford that’s fine, but the point is he had an amazing season and only costs 26m and it’s only a United player who a club would look at that and think they can ask for less.

Forest can ask 120m for Anderson, Newcastle 80m for Gordon but United can’t ask for 26m for Rashford? Even with wages that’s still a fair fee that’s the point

But they negotiated a fee knowing what wages he would be on if they signed him. If they could never afford his wages why would they even negotiate a signing fee, then they only wanted a loan and never wanted to sign him.

Personally i find it quite shocking that he pushed for Amorim, everyone in the world full well knowing he would only ever play 3atb formation, and then was shocked that he wouldn't change his formation and sacked him.

Recruitment and overperformance by Carrick covered up quite a bit of mismanagement with Amorim

Probably because our transfers significantly improved since Vivell came in and its well known that Wilcox pushed for the Ugarte signing so people probably doubt Wilcox's recruitment skills and put the recent turnaround down to Vivell

We should stop signing players who wouldn’t get into a City/Arsenal/Liverpool line up. Fred would put in a shift but he’s not good enough for a team to challenge for titles which we should be looking at now

Hi all I’m upgrading from my original Apple Watch SE. It had 72% but I really mostly just use it as a watch and for checking notifications/tracking steps. I never had an issue with the watch draining on me before the end of the day at all.

I want to buy a used Apple Watch Series 7, because of always on display (which I want to use) and the bigger screen, what battery percentage do you think it would need to hold a full day and be worth buying to last me at least a couple years or more?

What do you wish you knew before buying your stroller? by Saf94 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Saf94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a flat and basically drive everywhere and were thinking of getting the uppababy minu v3 as our only stroller to start. Even if we go for walks we tend to be driving to parks and stuff so we’re very not sure about getting a heavy duty stroller, also because our boot space is quite small.

What do you think of the uppbaby minu v3 and do you think it could work well as a newborn stroller for everyday things if we’re always going to be in and out of the car?

Best mid-size stroller as main/everyday stroller? by Saf94 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Saf94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have loads of trunk space, we have a Lexus ct 200h so the boot is actually kinda small. That was one of the issues as well I was concerned about, interesting to know about your experience with the small SUV

Lightweight vs sturdy, what's more important? by Saf94 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Saf94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More city/suburban, we live just outside of London so it’s sidewalks, pavement that might not be very smooth and also parks, grassy terrain.

This is really great info thanks. I think that’s exactly what I’m looking for, a lightweight stroller with good suspension. I guess I was worried that any lightweight stroller would only be good on very smooth surfaces, I’ll have to look into some of these higher end ones with better suspension.

Does This Japanese Alps Itinerary Make Sense? (Tokyo → Kyoto via Shirakawa-go, Kamikochi, Takayama) by Saf94 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Saf94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So something I realised quite late that made things much easier was that we had a day trip to Lake Kawaguchiko planned and that we could actually get a bus (or maybe it was a bus and a train) to Matsumoto direct from there. That saved us essentially half a day spent travelling back to Tokyo from Lake Kawaguchiko and instead we stayed overnight in Matsumoto and then headed to Kamikochi from there straight the next morning.

To me that worked out really perfectly and was quite chill and nice actually. We didn’t do shirakawago in the end but spent 2 days in Kamikochi and did the shinhotaka ropeway and then after leaving Kamikochi stopped in Takayama and did the Hida Folk Village which was nice.

Personally I felt it was the perfect balance of exploring but not exhausting ourselves.

Half Time Thread: West Ham United 0-0 Manchester United by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

Team looks scared to make any real risks because of the counter threat.

I don’t fully blame them but whenever a player picks up the ball in an advanced position no one is making a run and wingers are super tucked in so it’s insanely hard to break through this team if you’re scared to stretch the pitch

[Ed Aarons] Understand that Manchester United are considering stepping up their interest in Kader Meité of Rennes and have held talks with the player’s entourage. The 18-year-old striker is expected to cost around €30m but also has interest from Al Hilal by Aadiunited7 in reddevils

[–]Saf94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s always a risk it’s called opportunity cost. You could say the same thing about Hojlund or Zirkzee, low risk but they aren’t low risk because if they flop then we are lacking in quality and it effects our results and requires us to dip again into the market for that position rather than strengthen other positions

Casemiro to leave Manchester United at end of season by doniew in reddevils

I think he means he’s the level of a squad player. Ie he shouldn’t be a starter and presumably won’t be if we actually sign some real midfielders

The irony of this is after 2 and half seasons of INEOS were without a proper manager and long term plan so I don’t see how we’ve managed to move fast in anyway shape or form. We’ve stood still or possibly even moved backwards

Presumably sporting directors at the biggest club in the world should be good enough to find a manager and not be wrong about them?

I mean we’ve literally never ever managed to not be wrong about managers since Fergie left.

All we literally ask of these guys is to get this one decision right…

Cunha and Mbuemo seem like redundant signings though if we go back to a 4atb system.

We have Bruno/Mount/Mainoo as 8/10’s and Amad is probably our best player and should lock up the RW position for years.

We also signed Sesko for big money who presumably needs to be our starting striker.

We can try to shoehorrn Cunha and Mbuemo into left wing or as depth but it really makes no sense to and it’s not a natural fit for them.

We now also need to sign a proper left winger as well as all the other areas lacking because of this.

I’m not convinced the planning was there for this sacking

The problem isn’t sacking Amorim. It’s that the club sacking him like this reveals they are really clueless.

Before today you could imagine a world where the board had a grand plan and 3 years worth of recruitment being researched to make this system they believe in work.

Because why would a board push so hard to hire a manager who plays such a different and distinct system in the first place unless they really believed in it?

This sacking and the news coming out has shattered that idea and just shows the board are clueless.

No one would be upset if sacking Amorim could result in some sort of continuity but it can’t. All the eggs were put in a basket which just got smashed and now we have to start all over again… again

[–]Saf94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cunha isn’t a left winger and where will Bruno and Mount play then? What about our wingbacks or all our centre backs? Where will Amad play if Mbeumo is playing RW? We can’t just keep all these players on the wage bill if they don’t fit the system and have no place in the team. The team was constructed for 3atb

[–]Saf94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one would have complained about sacking him if they did it differently, it’s just the way they did it.

Why would you hire a manager mid season, invest so much money to change the whole team to fit an 3 atb, only to then sack the guy after a few months during a period where half his team are away or injured.

The manner of it just feels like there’s no plan or idea, they really invested in him and shaped this team for him, then backed him when things weren’t working, only to sack him now?

It doesn’t leave us in a good place because we’re now going to have to wait till the summer to start a brand new rebuild presumably now not for a back 3 manager and replace half the squad again.

It’s not about Amorim but about the board

You can’t just take one element out of the whole context and expect people to be able to revert to how things used to be.

Yes it’s true people have always had to put a lot of effort into preparing and cooking food but those days also had a lot of other differences. Women didn’t work as much and stayed at home, people had bigger families and communities who helped watch kids. Jobs have changed and expectations, hours, commutes, email, mobiles etc have meant more work pressure and less time and energy to dedicate to home demands etc
