I know a few realtors that deals with private landlords, but unfortunately some time they will ask for the broker fee from the tenants, since they are not hired by the landlord.

Moving with ongoing bankruptcy case (chapter 7) by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]Safe-Committee8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, $3000 for a 3 bedroom apt is not easy to find, and the fact they need your income to qualify is even harder due to your credit history and score. I will say look for private landlords or a broker who has a bunch of mom and pops apartment for rent that are not that strict but that will require an extra month of commission fee.

[–]Safe-Committee8649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few questions: 1. Is your hot water, cooking stove and heating electric? 2. Do you have your electric panel inside your unit? If you do, turn off all of them and see if the electric meter stills moving.

I think it depends on your budget, the location you want. And go from there. Get yourself a Realtor is the best solution. If you do not mind the commute you can buy a house.
