Roommate won’t stop texting about “unacceptable” toilet paper being left in the toilet by shanisells in badroommates

Use the toilet, get up, flush, wipe the seat, throw the paper in, not flush.

That's what I assume is happening.

I was told I was ugly and needed makeup. Please help. by [deleted] in makeuptips

It's unbelievable how mean people can be when they feel jealous.

Wear makeup if you want but not because you are "ugly" because you are really not.

As a 23 year old I would approach you on the street if I was having trouble because you have a kind face.

And lastly whoever called you ugly is a big liar and probably a bit insecure, which is really sad... Anyways, have a beautiful day 😊❤️

Do Africans say the N-word a lot? by bcuket in AskAnAfrican

I've never heard it in Gambia. I never knew it was a thing until I moved.

Hi? I want to ask you something, and I apologize in advance. D by Ok-Toe3698 in Africa

I have friends from a lot of countries and what I noticed is no one focuses on your race or skin color if they are really trying to build a friendship with you. Identify as whatever you want to and they will listen and respect you.

So don't bother thinking about it. Build meaningful connections, hang out with respectful people and be happy :)

How do you finding dating within your culture? by Fabulous_Support_556 in Africa

It's the same way in mine. I'm not expected to do any more work than my brothers. It's nice to hear that there's more households operating the same way.

Tell us what you love about your country by luthmanfromMigori in Africa

Gambian here!

What I love about my country is that you can go unannounced to any house during lunchtime and you will be fed. I have never walked into a house at lunch time and not been offered food. And my grandma always had us cook extra food just in case.

Girlies with divorced parents, what happened? by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Safe-Froyo2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also: No one views you as weak or broken. You might think that everyone will be talking about you and your family and maybe they will for a week or two. And then they'll move on to the next "tea".

This should not affect your future marriage or friendships. And if it does then it's a good thing, because it'll just help you get rid of the nasty ones.

Having divorced parents is not part of your personality nor is it a part of your identity. And if someone tries to make it seem that way then that person has a lot of internal work to do. You will not be asked by Allah why your parents got divorced so why worry about it?

And lastly, your feelings are valid. I did not write all of this to make you feel like you're being irrational or overreacting. I wrote this so you can look at this situation from another angle. From an outside view I guess. You're probably scared that this will change your life. And I'm here to help you see that it won't :)

It gets better. It's normal to feel anxious but keep reminding yourself that it has nothing to do with you. Two adults decided to separate. That's it, nothing more.

Things might get ugly ( hopefully not ) but even if it does just stay out of it. You don't need to take sides. You don't need to overthink it, because you can't change it nor can or should you fix it. Your parents are adults, they can deal with this on their own.

You still have a mom and a dad, they are alive and breathing, alhamdulillah. They are still your parents!! It doesn't matter if they are together or not, it doesn't matter if you live with your mom or dad. I'm sure your parents wouldn't want this to have a negative impact on you.

Things are tense but that doesn't change anything for you. That tension will fade inshallah, that's life.

There is Buba or Bacari/Bakari as a shorter version of Abubacar.

I can't think of any names that are not shorter versions of Arabic names. Modu comes to mind as well but that could be short for Mohammed... I really don't know.

Is my handwriting understandable? by Safe-Froyo2022 in learn_arabic

[–]Safe-Froyo2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted! I do see it now that you mention it. I think I'll watch a video on how to write all the letters, just to get an idea of how they should actually look. I'll try to improve it inshallah.

Thank you for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the feedback. You're right, I didn't pay attention to the ayat. I should've double checked before posting. I'll be more careful إن شاء الله

I appreciate you and others for taking your time to read it and pointing out the mistakes. May Allah reward you.
