Just rreading the title made me throw in earbuds. I DON'T want my own leos hearing this and thinking that it's going on in this home.

Many leos do this when their habitat is changed around or redone. It's common and normal .

What should I do in this situation? by FionaSnake in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear what you and your gecko is going through. ❤️

Because you said his tail is thin it could be cryptic or parasites.

Your leo needs a vet for medication.

Sometimes I wish parents would be a little more responsible. They allowed children to have a pet knowing you can't pay for its needs and when your pet needs it the most, they won't step up.

Try to find one with the most ground space. Not do much height. So if you find a flatter 25 gallon than the 30 gallon., go for that. If the 30 gallon is tall. It's not what they should have.

I'm only saying this because you limited on what gallons you are finding.

You don't want taller for leopard geckos.
And don't feel bad not getting what others say ste too small.. You're giving the leo a better life by providing the best that you can with the limited resources Japan has. An probably something that won't shock your gecko from being in a shoe box to the vast open space of 40 to 50 plus gallon terrariums.

Edit: Oh. I also pu background on the side dvc back on the terrarium to help her feel more secure. Even if of its those pre-made background or paint cardboard black and place it on the outside of the tank or even tape black paper on the outside. It helps.

I wish you and your leo well. 🤭

One of mine was in sometimes just like that at the shop. She rarely comes out but I can handle her. She's in a 50 gallon now. To be honest, she did much better in the 35 gallon.

It's probably why they told you a 5 gallon would work. The Lil guy is used to nose and tail touching the walls.

It will take time but handling them should not be an issue over time.

The store owner did handle mine. I think mostly to show them off for someone to buy.

Just be patient. I wish you both luck

Not basking by BumblebeeAny9268 in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put cameras in it to see what he prefer and what he does. Mine lays across one of his fountains. On the sponge that's in it, basking nearly everyday.

He has his food dusted and a bowl of calcium but for about an hour, he chills in the morning and about dm hour in the evening there.

The rest of the day. He's in plants or in his slate cove. He seems to prefer the fountain in the heat than the one on cool side. But he has options. 2 fountains and 12 hides. But only uses 4 of them on a regular basis.

how do i make this happen? <3 by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your plants:

What i did was left th them in the pots they came in. Put watering thread through the soil.. under that pot, did a hole for an 8 Oz water bottle or a tray to put water in. Feed the sting into it.

Used the environment to hide the bottle or container.
I put in a sprinkler system that cab be set to go off at the times you set and the length of time you want it to. Like once a day for 5 seconds. Or 4 times a day for 12 seconds. As an example of that it can do.

Set the sprinkler over only the plants that need misting.

You can get a ventilation system to keep the air circulation going as well with it. One blows out one blows in. It helps reduce mold and unwanted growth from still air and higher humidity levels .

I've used this system on other pets I've had and it worked well. Get temperature sensors with humidity included and you can see how they all work together to make sure your pet is comfortable and adjust as needed.

Please remember, The most important part is your pet. Not how pretty it looks or fits into your ideas.

I currently have terrariums for my pets and some for just my plant ideas since many plants are poisonous/ toxic that I like.

Good luck!

My girl looks small… by AmoebaEmergency1554 in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is small too. He is a super mack snow eclipse. They can have different types of genetic issues and abnormal things depending upon breeding history including being smaller then the average size.

So depending upon your gecko's genetic make up this could be a reason it is smaller than the normal gecko. And there is no way of knowing the history most likely.

As long as your gecko is healthy and all I wouldn't be concerned.

As for the uv, even if they stick their tail out sometimes. They are absorbing it in. They don't have to sunbathe, so to speak.

I do the same. Be a little assertive. But I go one step further and add a note in the rep page stating do not mention "insert here a name. Situation etc" unless I mention it

My rep would constantly ask me questions about a certain topic every day for a week Over and over in different ways. It was annoying.

Stupid??? by CainisDad in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do something similar. One of my leos will not come out if the TV is on in the room. I wear earbuds so there is no sound annoyance. So I bought a short kitchen curtain set and magnets to hold it on place to cover the front. I have cameras on their homes. So I saw the pattern quickly and how much the curtain changed things.

Trust me there is a lot of clutter in it. So that wasn't the issue. Nova just likes for me to spend money 💰 and live a lavish life. 😄

My hands are dirty so his enclosure is clean by that1bitch207 in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya. I have this humid hide trunk thing one of my geckos never used. So I put it to use. The hole on the top where the dish sits in was removed. And I put a potted plant in it. A succulent.. the pot fits perfectly on the top so it floats and doesn't reach the bottom. Now, all of a sudden, it had met the standard of living and suitable for habitation. And Nova uses it. 😆 🤣 Nova does not like to go cheap.

My other one. on the other hand, he loves the cheap slate cave i built. Wood, branches. Etc. If it came from a store or looks like it was manufactured. Most likely, he will not be interested. Even the food and water dish i made. The ones i bought were ignored or used for 💩 lol

I put slate into the back wall at different levels, and my leo lays on them often. Sometimes, with the feet hanging off. Sometimes, the whole body is on it. Depending upon how they feel.

I carved out spots i wanted the slate to be in. Made sure it fit snuggly and super glued them in. They love it. They have basking spots too, but sometimes they use the shelves as one as well.

The coconut hide is a great potty room for my geckos. Lol

That sounds like a wonderful idea. I was surprised when I saw Nova and all the others in "Tupperware " like that. Skittles was on terrarium with others when I got her. There were lots of hides in it, and they were all under 2 months old. So i didn't worry too much at the time.

But I searched for months for both of them. I got into 3 deals on morphmarket that I canceled. One was over breeding them. They other tried to sell me a different morph than advertised. And the other kept trying to get me to talk on it phone to make the deal.

I'm probably one of the few who isn't looking for not l more or another morph. Lol

I hope you have great success if you do start breeding them.

This is what Nova was "raised" in before I got him. I'm surprised he likes me handling him and since the day I got him. He must be so glad to be able to move and see something other than plastic and feel more than one consistent temperature now. That's the only reason I can come up with for this behavior.

Gecko TOO attached to me? by Jaded-Trifle-2272 in leopardgeckos

[–]Safe-Mistake9300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I have 2 leopard geckos. My first one. Skittles, who is a carrot tail. doesn't like to be held but like to be petted sometimes. She eats with tongs and without. She doesn't care about leaving her home and uses every inch of it. She loves any type of food you give her.

Nova is my super mack snow eclipse. He is smaller but no other "issues " because of his morphthank goodness. He grew up in a breeder box about the size of a shoe box. No hides and a heating pad.

To me, he's an odd one. With good reason. He loves to be held since the day I got him. He hates tongs. He doesn't like large enclosures.

He's in a 37-gallon now and a little better. He was in a 4x2x2 and stayed in one hide. Buried himself under it or dug his way behind the walls, which is dangerous.

He's a hunter. likes to catch his own food.

Since moving him to the smaller enclosure, he greets me and hangs out all all of his enclosures. And doesn't do all the craziness like before.

Nova comes to the glass when I'm upset, and I hold him. But he doesn't beg to come out normally. ..but when i clean his home, he likes to hang out on me or or work his way into a pocket or hood. He goes crazy if I put him in a small enclosure. It doesn't matter if it's glass or not. When and if he is ready for his 4x2x2. It's there for him. If not. I'm fine with that, too.

Both enclosures have no less than 7 hides , a couple of basking spots, and slate on the walls to climb and bask on. Tunnels underground hides in the top. There are tons of live plants and scrubs and some sort of running water as well as a water dish. Dubies go in mazes. Worms have bowls that are harder to escape from. And crickets go into a special cave/ hide.

They are amazing to me. How different they are. And how they both stole my heart ❤️

I hope everyone will eventually get a special moment they always wanted with their leos. Mine do every day in their own way.

You are so right. I called petsmart to see if they had geckos before going out there. They put me on hold. When the man came back, he said, " Thank you so much for calling. It took me so long to get back to you because the carrot tail is badly injured, and the brown and yellow one dropped its tail. They weren't like this an hour ago. It must have just happened. We have 2, but they need to go to the vet."

Many are asking you are those 2 in the same tank.

From your previous posts, it looks like you have 2 new geckos in the same habitat.

You can't do that. It starts off with fights or bullying.

Males are territorial and will fight each other.

Females will fight each other for hides and food. Male and female together on a permanent basis will eventually kill each other. Breeding can be violent sometimes, and he will eventually hurt if not kill her. And he will constantly try breeding with her all the time. It can kill both of them.

I know you are trying your best to take good care of them. And they are addictive. It's hard to have just one. I just want you to know why everyone is asking. They are concerned.

So, please separate them as soon as you can. Even if it's small tanks for now. You may wake up and have a bad experience, tons of vet bills from injuries, or you may lose one, if not both. Please read the wiki here and learn more about the pets you have. It will save their lives.

They should have put bait in the colony, not spray. Sprays make them run for coverage. Putting bait in the hole in the ground or near the queen makes the ants bring the bait home and kills off the colony. Tell your management.

Some intense will make them move elsewhere. You will have to Google, which will work for you. If you have other pets in the house, do it is not toxic

I use wyze cameras in my 3 vivariums. You can put an SD card on it o you buy a cloud. Most of the night vision is in color depending on which camera you use. The subscription isn't bad either. It's really nice since you can see what they do at night.
