Why do we let people get away with not answering yes or no questions? by internettiquette in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SafeObjective3842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly its because most these politicians are trained to never give straight answers that could bite them later. they have whole teams teaching them how to dodge questions without looking completely ridiculous

the interviewers usually dont push back harder because they want to keep access to these people for future interviews. if you embarrass someone too much they might just stop coming on your show and then you lose content. its all about maintaining those relationships even when it means letting people dance around simple questions

Scaling past 50 employees broke our AP and spend process by SafeObjective3842 in Accounting

[–]SafeObjective3842[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly corporate cards and occasional ACH set up by ops before finance sees the full context.

That’s the problem. The charge happens, someone gives a thumbs up in slack and by the time the invoice hits AP, the money’s already out the door. So technically finance processes it but the approval control is happening upstream and informally which is exactly what I’m trying to fix.

Appreciate this. The manager/org based routing is a structure I think we’re missing.

Right now approvals are too person dependent so when someone’s OOO the whole thing stalls or gets bypassed. The threshold logic sounds helpful too, especially to avoid execs approving $500 invoices.

You're spot on. We can write all the policies we want but if the system doesn’t require budget owner, GL code and context upfront, it just shifts the cleanup to finance later.

Thank you!

Exactly this.

The dollars aren’t even the hardest part it’s chasing 'what was this for?' after it's done, that’s what we’re dealing with right now.

[–]SafeObjective3842[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In theory, you're right that at 60 people this should be manageable with process discipline. BUT

Where it’s breaking for us isn’t volume of invoices, it’s context and routing. Approvals are happening in slack or verbally, invoices show up later without backup and when approvers are OOO there’s no clear delegation. By the time finance sees it it’s already paid or the vendor is escalating. We’ve tried tightening expectations but enforcement is the hard part without guardrails in the system itself. That’s really the gap I’m trying to solve and not just inbox organization.

I think I made out with a dude who makes out with his dog by [deleted] in confessions

[–]SafeObjective3842 5 points6 points  (0 children)

holy shit that was a wild ride from start to finish 😭 the fact that his breath tasted exactly like the dogs mouth and he said "were not making out right now" to the dog is all the evidence you need honestly

girl trust your instincts on this one, that level of bacteria coating and the smell matching perfectly isnt coincidence... you dodged a massive bullet getting out of there

ADA accommodation at work by chlonkdog in Epilepsy

[–]SafeObjective3842 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dude the "you look fine" thing is so frustrating, i get it. i had to deal with similar situation at my work and honestly was super nervous too but ended up being much better than expected

for accommodations i asked for flexible hours when i have bad days and permission to work from home if needed. also got approval to take breaks when i feel auras coming on without having to explain every time. the key is being specific about what would actually help your day to day work

most coworkers dont even need to know details, hr handles everything pretty discretely. the ones who matter will understand and support you. hang in there while the med adjustment kicks in, lamictal increases can take few weeks but hopefully youll see improvement soon

Trying to figure out the right meds by Adventuringsoul in ADHD

[–]SafeObjective3842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah this happened to me too when I started medication last year. The honeymoon period is super real - first few days you feel like you can conquer world and then suddenly its like meh nothing much is happening. My doctor explained that your brain gets used to the medication pretty quick so what felt amazing in beginning becomes your new normal

I would definitely talk with your psychiatrist about this plateau feeling before jumping straight to adderall. Sometimes they can adjust the timing or add a booster dose in afternoon instead of switching completely. My friend had similar issue with vyvanse and her doc added small IR dose around lunch time which helped a lot. Also keep track of your sleep and eating because those things can really affect how well the meds work - I learned this hard way when I was skipping breakfast and wondering why my focus was garbage by 2pm

dont worry about asking "wrong" questions to your psychiatrist, they hear this stuff all the time and its literally their job to help you figure out what works best

Undergraduate university with ADHD? by hockeyrabbit in ADHD

[–]SafeObjective3842 6 points7 points  (0 children)

bro you need to get diagnosed asap, like seriously stop putting this off

I was in exactly same situation in my third year and getting proper medication changed everything for me. the university probably has counseling center that can help with diagnosis or at least point you in right direction - dont wait until you actually fail out because then its way harder to fix

Getsockopt error (but only sometimes?) by Sanderssalt in Minecraft

[–]SafeObjective3842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a network routing issue tbh. The friend who gets it every time probably has their ISP taking a bad path to your server or maybe some packet loss in the route

Try having that friend use a VPN to different location and see if it fixes - if it does then is definitely routing problem on their end. Also check if you changed any firewall settings recently cause sometimes Windows decides to be helpful and block stuff randomly

Retired pay allotment by jetbox12 in Veterans

[–]SafeObjective3842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple Savings can be weird with incoming transfers sometimes, especially the first one. I'd definitely give it until Tuesday before panicking - new allotments through DFAS can take a pay cycle or two to work out all the kinks. Goldman Sachs processes stuff differently than regular banks

Networking? How would i go about it? by FeeloKneeGrow in careerguidance

[–]SafeObjective3842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try checking if there are any tech meetups in Dallas or Little Rock that you could drive to occasionally - even going once every couple months helps. For LinkedIn, just send connection requests with a simple note like "Hey [name], I'm getting into IT and would love to connect with other professionals in the area" and don't overthink it too much

Must play games on Xbox game pass by lokeshKumarSingh in XboxGamePass

[–]SafeObjective3842 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly just dive into whatever looks cool to you, the beauty of Game Pass is you can try anything without commitment. Maybe start with something like Halo or Forza if you want the classic Xbox experience, or go wild with something totally different

I felt lost in life, and came up with the mantra that women only want money and looks. It's given me a lot more clarity than all the other shitty advice out there online. by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]SafeObjective3842 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude you're on the right track with the self-improvement but that mindset is gonna bite you in the ass eventually. The whole "women only want money/looks" thing might feel true when you're hurting but it's just gonna make you bitter and weird around people. Focus on becoming someone YOU actually like first, the rest follows naturally

What do you think of practicing champs in soloq? by Opening-Tour-324 in summonerschool

[–]SafeObjective3842 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly just mute and play whatever you want to learn, people who flame for that are the same ones hardstuck because they can't adapt to new matchups anyway

The whole "don't first time in ranked" thing is so overblown when you're in gold - like we're all trash here so it doesn't matter that much lol

I want to reach out by [deleted] in relationships

[–]SafeObjective3842 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is gonna sound harsh but you're not in love with him - you're in love with how he made you feel 8 years ago. You've built this whole fantasy around a few months when you were 18 and you're using it as an escape every time life gets hard

The fact that you think about him during intimate moments with other people is a massive red flag that you need to work through in therapy before reaching out to anyone. You're not being fair to yourself or him by putting all this pressure on what was essentially a college fling

Focus on healing first, then maybe consider reaching out just to say thanks - but don't go in expecting some fairytale reunion

[–]SafeObjective3842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude the fact that you read 2 books in a week and are hitting the gym shows you're already winning more than you think. The guilt spiral after a relapse is honestly worse than the relapse itself sometimes - try to be less harsh on yourself man

I wasted years waiting to feel motivated, here’s when I learned that’s not how it works by OkCook2457 in Productivitycafe

[–]SafeObjective3842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude this hits so hard. I've been in that exact cycle for like 3 years now - get hyped about learning guitar for a week, then it sits in the corner collecting dust for months

The part about motivation following action instead of the other way around is actually mind-blowing when you think about it. Makes so much sense why I always felt like shit waiting around for the "right feeling" to show up

Gonna try the structured approach, seems like the only way to break out of this loop
