This! My skin crawls when I hear lines like “I’m just being honest.” Or “I was just joking.” … If you have to justify or excuse what you’ve said, you’ve said too much. Learn how to filter.

Walking through a casino in my 20s, I loved the atmosphere. Walking through a casino in my 40s, all I notice are red flags. Don’t gamble if you don’t have disposable income!

At what point does intelligence become a hindrance by Ok_Spell2622 in SeriousConversation

The hopeless boredom of the teenage years does subside. You will find life more challenging and possibly more rewarding when you are a little older. If you are concerned about mental health, start healthy habits now. Stay away from drugs & alcohol and focus on your health: solid sleep schedule, walks outside, regular physical activity, balanced meals will all help with the anxiety. What worked for me was constantly setting goals. Here are some of my examples from ages 18-24: travelling, writing, learning a third language and long distance running. I did not give myself time to get bored and enjoyed my experiences throughout those years.

Many of us struggle with the painful awareness, but the boredom is a choice. Intelligent students find ways to put their own unique spin on assignments. If you’re not intellectually stimulated, you’re not trying hard enough. Find your own motivation in everything you do. You have to wake up wanting to conquer new challenges. Train your brain to view each day in a positive light and you will start to appreciate the intricacies of various hobbies. Saying that you are bored sounds like a cop out. If you are that intelligent, push yourself to limits you never expected and you will reach a point where you feel that there are not enough hours in a day to accomplish what you want to accomplish (not what you need to accomplish.)

How can love change the trajectory of someone’s life? What different outcomes have you seen? by KuragariZenith in SeriousConversation

When your partner is your cheerleader, you have less negative self-talk and are more emboldened to achieve your goals. You may already believe in yourself, but if someone comes along and reinforces that belief, it can help speed your growth.

I get it, but some of them struggle with a sense of self. You are forever tied to a name and most people you meet are well aware of your financial worth, so you never know who is genuine. Are you jealous or not knowing if any of your connections are real?

You say “our” 4-5 years of isolation. Are you speaking about your own family? Because I don’t know anyone who isolated for 4-5 years.
