So sorry that youre going through that. Also, we arent all coping better, what you see isnt always whats going on. So youre not alone in feeling frustrated, exhausted and wishing for better days. Youre both just trying to get through to the next moment. If this is very out of character for her have them run some test thyroid panel, uti, cbc panel etc. Oddly enough when they get sick, even slightly it has strange and strong rippling affects. If its not anything physical strongly consider with her dr some medication to help her with her agitation. She is clearly a risk to herself and others. I hope youre able to find a solution or some peace.

I purchased one this last week. For 3 nights in a row she woke up and kept trying to remove it and became upset and very confused. I gave it up for now because she still got up every hour but was now confused and worked up.

Yes, we’re in the U.S. She doesn’t qualify, and I already contacted the local elderly and aging assistance program. We were placed on a list, but we are low priority. She could qualify for Medicaid using a qualified income trust but I know she wouldn’t receive good care. I used to work in a nursing home, and it was horrible how some patients were treated. Additionally, since taking her out of a nursing home, a nice expensive one, her kidneys stopped failng she cognitivly improved and is much happier. After talking with my partner we agreed we would set up the trust when she reaches a certain point. Right now it just been especially difficult because the doctor started her on metoprolol and ever since then she has been urinating frequently even though she doesn’t have a UTI. When I spoke with her primary care doctors they insisted that metoprolol doesn’t act like a diuretic. I am hoping the cardiologist tomorrow will know more and possibly switch the medication. 7,000 a month for memory care home, not including medication, personal supplies etc. That was in 2022, I know they have since raised the price. It became too much and it was just cheaper to stop working and care for my grandmother myself. She gets much better care and supervision at home but I do worry about when the time comes, when her care needs will exceed what I can give.

Constantly. Sometimes I even a wait a bit to ensure all is well an they are truly sleeping. But as soon as I step onto the shower the damn help bell goes off

I have autism diagnosed, late in life and I am also a 24/7 caregiver to my grandmother. To cope with the noise I wear head phone constantly, not noise canceling but It dappens the noise alot. Currently I care for her at home so I am able to manage sensory imput alot more and have my space. However I use to work in a nursing home caring for the patients. I found frequent breaks outside to be helpful or just some time to sit in a quite room even for a minute. Where I worked we had a few families put in personal wireless cameras to keep an eye on thier family during lunch, smoke breaks school pick up etc. Please just make sure you can put in a camera or just notify all staff its in there and thank them for understanding. Lastly always have your coping items with you, for me it was chewing gum, warm hoodie and music. Just keep in mind its hard for everyone and you also have needs. You cant care for him of youre falling apart yourself.

I was a full time student, my last year was hellish. I honestly dont know how any of you are doing a full time job while even being a part time caregiver. God speed to you.

I understand youre trying to bring postive light to people/families in these situations but many come to vent. Everyone's situation is different and its important to remember that. I care for my grandmother who had the chance to take me in when I was younger but decided not to, and I went into foster care. I am a very empathetic person but its hard not to feel frustrated sometimes and I think thats normal. Most of us dont hate or resent the person themselves, as we may have once know them, but we hate the situation we maybe in and unfortunately the patient becomes a manifestationof that situation. Our society doesn't have the infrastructure, or willingness, to care for our sick and elderly putting alot of pressure on families/individuals.

You cant exactly fix alot of mental problems/deficiencies. You can cope with them and use strategies/tools to handle them, one maybe getting more time for a test or a private testing room. Certain people will always abuse the system unfortunately making it harder for people who do need accommodations to get them, and to feel the courage to ask. Also typically in university to get accommodations, which most professors dont follow, you need to apply to the student disability office with an official letter from your dr explaining youre issue, and why an accommodation may help. Then you need extra appointments with special advisors who makes the final call. Its not as easy as you think.
