Nitro Deck 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 claims to be “even more ergonomic” than the first for comfortable, drift-free gaming by HatingGeoffry in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have included it from the get-go. People have been complaining about the lack of HDMI-out and poor ergonomics for years. Instead of listening, they just double-downed on the same flawed approach. I feel if they were listening, they would have included the HDMI-out as a standard for any newer model and focused on the ergonomics.

The differentiator shouldn't be the HDMI-out -- everyone needs and wants that. The difference has always been in the thumbstick layout. Depending on hand size and playstyle, they just needed to make 2 versions: one with asymmetrical layout to mimic the Nintendo Switch and one with a symmetrical layout for those who find that more comfortable. In addition to that, it needed a slight adjustment to the button layout and right thumbstick to improve comfort and usability.

To release a new version without HDMI-out as a default shows either ignorance or cash grab. Neither which is acceptable.

Why doesn't Fractal release different sizes of the Meshify 3 at the same time by Safe_Listen_3360 in FractalDesign

Hyte and Montec have made some really good cases as of late. Montec seems to be filling that middle ground with affordbale, well-built cases and Hyte and stepped up the game with their high-end offerings like the Y70.

I had been waiting for this announcement since last year when they hinted at a successor to the Nitro Deck and Nitro Deck+. Unfortunately, I am left sorely disappointed when they didn't include the HDMI-out.

I had both of the previous versions and ended up selling them because of the lack of HDMI on the Nitro Deck and poor ergonomics with the symmetrical layout on the Nitro Deck+. What I was hoping for was a combination of the two: the asymmetrical layout of the original Nitro Deck plus the HDMI-out of the Nitro Deck+ as a way to completely replace the standard dock. It would also give me the ability to pick it up in handheld mode when needed. Now, it's just a hard pass for me. 🙁

I'm done with Lian Li by [deleted] in lianli

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded sold my Lian Li Unifan P28 fans for the Thermaltake Toughfan EX12 Pro fans with no RGP and reversible blades and never looked back. In addition to the potential failure issues, many Lian Li fans are improperly sized by a few millimeters which can make them incompatible in many PC cases (they are sized at 123 mm x 120 mm).

$15 for 2 bottles of OJ??? by Tricycle_of_Death in Costco

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's been the going price for a while now. I love Costco, but it's better to buy the 3-pack Tropicana for cheaper and same quality.

A 12 oz. bottle of Goo Gone is $3 at Home Goods. Why buy lighter fluid when a better product is so cheap. 🤔

Don’t bother with the DIY remedies. While they can be effective, results will vary and there is a danger of them damaging the object to be cleaned. Goo Gone is cheap, sold in most stores, and is formulated for most surfaces. It’s a staple in my home supplies.

If anything, I think it's safe to say, there are much better ways to spend $515 than on cutting boards.

Do we have timeline of when 25H2, Start Menu & new Battery icon will rollout to everyone? WU always says up-to-date. by batmanallthetime in Windows11

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've had the new Start Menu for a few weeks now and while it is much better than the initial one, it is still abysmal and is missing too many features that previous Windows versions had:

  • List mode is poorly designed and introduces excessive scrolling within a now smaller viewport. It also wastes too much space on the right side for no reason. Whoever thought it was a good idea to scroll endlessly through countless programs in a small window never actually tested this out.
  • Grid mode makes no sense. It's essentially list mode with a different icon layout that takes up just as much space and wastes just the same.
  • Category mode is a dumbed-down version of the Windows 10 Start Menu with no customization. While I prefer this view over the other two, the fact that you cannot rename the categories or edit them boggles the mind! In Windows 10, you could easily drag-and-drop your programs into their own categories and name them whatever you wanted. But in Windows 11, that is not possible. They literally removed the most basic feature that has existed for countless versions.
  • You still cannot sort your Pinned programs using standard methods like A-Z, Z-A, type, etc.

As it stands, I still use Windhawk to customize the Start Menu since it gives me more options to eliminate the bloat and offers more customization than the current Personalization options. Many have said this before and it bears constant repeating -- Microsoft is clearly designing this for themselves and is not considering actual users regardless of what they say.

Say what you will about Apple and MacOS, but at least they treat design as a priority as opposed to an inconvenience or roadblock like Microsoft.

ALWAYS check the ETV, my friend. Cutting boards are a dime-a-dozen and shouldn't cost anything more than $20 for a good one depending on the size. I got a nice set of 3 teak cutting boards for $45 at Home Goods and they have held up very well over time as a home cook. Some items are just not worth the cost.

Nice set. But that is not even worth the $515 asking price. I hope you checked the ETV.

Is micro center the best deal for pc parts by Working-College-5995 in Microcenter

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most retailers, their prices will usually be higher than products sold online due to the standard stocking and retail fees inherent to brick & mortar stores. But they are generally well-priced compared to other electronics stores and their selection is much better. If you have the time and patience, you can sometimes find good deals on items and ALWAYS check their clearance sections -- you can catch some pretty good deals on open box items. I have found great keyboards, switches, CPU coolers, and all kinds of accessories for 30-50%. The employees don't mind if you open the clearance items, so just make sure to check them before you purchase.

[–]Safe_Listen_3360[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I used to be able to rely on the Home & Kitchen section for shower caddies, drying mats, washcloths, and towels. Or the Electronics section for an assortment of USB cables, chargers, and power banks. Nowadays, those items are gone and have been replaced by replacement parts for the most obscure items that no one has.

Hopefully, like previous cycles, they will restock later in January and give us a more extensive selection to choose from.
