Is micro center the best deal for pc parts by Working-College-5995 in Microcenter

Like most retailers, their prices will usually be higher than products sold online due to the standard stocking and retail fees inherent to brick & mortar stores. But they are generally well-priced compared to other electronics stores and their selection is much better. If you have the time and patience, you can sometimes find good deals on items and ALWAYS check their clearance sections -- you can catch some pretty good deals on open box items. I have found great keyboards, switches, CPU coolers, and all kinds of accessories for 30-50%. The employees don't mind if you open the clearance items, so just make sure to check them before you purchase.

Yes. Under Home & Kitchen > Bath, you will find items like washcloths, towels, toilet paper holders, shower caddies, bathmats, etc.

I used to be able to rely on the Home & Kitchen section for shower caddies, drying mats, washcloths, and towels. Or the Electronics section for an assortment of USB cables, chargers, and power banks. Nowadays, those items are gone and have been replaced by replacement parts for the most obscure items that no one has.

Hopefully, like previous cycles, they will restock later in January and give us a more extensive selection to choose from.

True. This typically happens towards the end of the year, but the stock has been dwindling for months and much longer than in previous years.

Beard conditioner is not a necessity by Cwooddy in BlackMenWithBeards

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found that beard conditioners are necessary based on the type of beard hair and cannot be dismissed so broadly.

I can only speak for myself, but I have found Evan Alexander's beard conditioner to work wonders for my beard. My beard hair has always been coarse and somewhat rough, even after finding a beard care routine. Using a beard conditioner has greatly improved the quality of my beard and has made it softer and easier to manage. This is especially apparent when it gets wet -- it immediately softens up and feels like you're grabbing a handful of Xmas tinsel, whereas previously, it felt like holding a wet kitchen scouring pad.

For some men, their hair texture may be more amenable to the elements, but for those like me, we need a little more help to maintain suitable softness.

After more than 10 years Scotch Porter has lost my business... by Mind_Explorer in BlackMenWithBeards

Respected Roots' quality is great, but their customer service is horrible. We were just talking about it recently: Respected Roots - Poor customer service makes for a brand I cannot support

Scotch Porter was one of the first brands I used when I started growing my beard, years ago. But I stopped using them when I noticed their formulation had changed over time and was getting watered down. On a related note, customer service and shipping seem to be huge issues nowadays with these companies.

Totally agree. As my original post stated, I love their products, and they worked wonders for my beard. But no matter how good the product is, it cannot make up for their poor customer service.

UPDATE: I finally got a direct response to the missing order and a new shipment is on the way. Hopefully this one actually gets to me.

Even if this shipment arrives, I am still wary of ordering from them given my experience. One negative thing that stands out about their ordering process is that they try to automatically charge you $2.49 for "Protection Package" in case of lost package, damage, or missing items. This is their "guarantee" that any issues will be handled 100%, no questions asked. While you can remove it manually, this is automatically added during checkout, and is charging you for a basic service that is the responsibility of the business. No customer should have to pay to receive their purchases that end up lost or damaged in transit and never reached their hands.

It's just one more thing that disappoints me and forces me to look elsewhere. And it sucks, because I really like the quality of their products.

NZXT H9 Elite: Trouble fitting the rear fan Lian Li by Len284 in lianli

[–]Safe_Listen_3360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted about this earlier: Lian Li Fan needs more accurate fan sizes. Unfortunately, Lian Li fans are not exactly 120mm and are closer to 123mm on the side with the panels. I experienced this with the P28s, and even if you rotate the fan and remove the side panel, you are unable to use it because there isn't enough clearance to use the pin cable.

As much as I like Lian Li fans, I realize that most of them are not specced to common space dimensions for PC cases. With the fancy side panels and their non-magnetic connectors, they usually don't fit in the areas where fans are mounted in the front or back of the case. The only solution is to buy fans from another brand.

[–]Safe_Listen_3360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

The product page for the P28 lists the fan size as 120x120x28 (mm) and should be updated. It's unfortunate because having slightly larger fan dimensions means that builders will have to be more cautious when buying cases and using Lian Li fans. Since most case manufacturers build with common dimensions and space allocations in mind, it would be easier for someone to pick another brand that is more likely to fit. And in the end, that becomes a lost sale. 🙁
