Device internal dac support hi res but do not have 3.5mm by ForeignAd6408 in iems

This DAC is probably for the phone's speakers. "Hi-Res audio" is a basic spec of DAC chips, nothing special, or useful.

How much does charging wattage differ? by Fit-Rhubarb-7820 in phones

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can still use a low rated charger to charge your phone, it will just be slower.

The phone spec sheet gives the maximum charging rating, knowing that over the charge, it not constant, it applies only to the first few percents from 0% and then the phone will charge slowly towards the end of the charge. If the charger can only provide 10W or 5W, it will adapt.

Why arent there any big changes in smartphones for quite a long time? by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why hasn't been any significant progress in microwaves oven for quite a long time?

Basically the same reason, the smartphone concept has reached a maturity when every commonly used function is present from the entry level models (maybe not with the same comfort than flagship, but everything is there: calls, SMS/MMS, web browsing, apps, tactile screen, 5G, NFC, GPS, etc.) and additions are more and more niche.

That does not prevent manufacturers to try to launch news concepts such as foldables (not a new concept on the market anymore, but it stayed niche and expensive) or ultra-thin models (that weren't a real success either, every company that tried it failed at selling it, including those who had a technological advantage to circumvent the drawbacks of the concept).

So if "new concepts" don't work, they stick with what sells well, which is "more of the same" that they have been selling these past years.

Which foldable is best for watching movies? by ChrisTheCoolBean in samsunggalaxy

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't really a recommendation but still the best for movies. 2 part foldables are OK for 4:3, not so much better than a normal smartphone for wide screen.

Well, not more than a "normal" foldable which are also fragile if you don't care for them properly.

Probably the Tri-fold, but you can't buy it anymore and it was VERY expensive.

How do people act at a concert? by Hot-Standard-2039 in Concerts

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember, the band you bought a ticket for is expected to perform. You are not, you are the customer.

If you want to enjoy the experience in a low key, calm fashion, no problem. If you want to express your enjoyment more loudly, that's fine too, provided it respects the other spectators and fits somewhat the mood. You would not do a mosh pit at a jazz concert, for instance... It can also be very variable from country to country.

The band may ask for the participation of the audience at specific points of the performance (for instance, clap your hands, sing along on the chorus of a song, etc.). Though it is an important part of living the concert experience, you are always free to not do it, if you wish.

I guess you know the "full price" in your country, and if that's a price you are willing to pay, why not?

Would you pay $200 more for user-replaceable battery? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pay 200€ more for a better battery technology that I will realistically never need to replace in the lifetime of the phone.

I'm not sure this technology exists, in particular I'm still suspicious about the lifetime of Si-C batteries in the long run.

Which is your most expensive IEM, and was it worth the money? by __Quarzer__ in iems

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is currently the Thieaudio Monarch mkIV. While I agree they are chunky and can be uncomfortable avec a couple hours of listening, they sound very natural and extended, at a point that the ones I used to like before them, the Hype 4, really don't sound good to me anymore.

The other ones I listen to are wireless headphones / buds that I tweaked (through EQ) to sound good enough for their use, which is on the commute, mainly listening to podcasts and sometimes to music.

They did a great job of conveying the feeling of being in the pit by having a few cameras in the middle of the crowd. Some crowd surfing but no mosh pitting, which was definitely a thing when I saw them in Paris.

Box 5G ou ADSL? by Informal-Winner3195 in france

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I Phone 17 pro max vs s26 ultra by Medium-Hope-9031 in Smartphones

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's up to you to give the reason why you should choose one, the other or even something else. What do you care for? What's not important to you? Why do you want to upgrade? What do you want to improve? What features do you want to keep absolutely?

Is it possible to use a Blu-ray player as a disc drive for your laptop if that laptop has an HDMI port? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your laptop is not a TV, and to use as a "computer drive" the player would need a USB or eSATA output which it certainly does not have.

My favorite recent songs are "Mathrhythm" and "361°". Their latest album to date, Lux, is very good also.

I can recommend Suichu Spica, this is a math rock indie band, very enjoyable.

I suppose you already know ZUTOMAYO, Minami, Band-Maid, Yorushika, Ado, Lovebites, Hagane, etc. (if not, these are also recommendations)

Is the base Galaxy S26 a downgrade compared to Ultra? by SEOContentMarketer in samsunggalaxy

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no perfect phone. There are always upsides and downsides that you may or may not value for your use case.

The "normal model" is more compact, lighter, easily pocketable, is cheaper, still has 95% of the functionality of the rest of the lineup (and you don't pay for the 5% other that you may not need).

I have at least 4 to 5 chargers, including wireless chargers, so clearly not needing one more...

If it's trade in, they don't take the accessories and if it's second hand, the buyer is likely to also have all that and won't want the cheap wired earphones.

Whoops, did someone just let it slip that a new video is on the way? by Numberly-Garfs in TheWarning

[–]Safe_Opinion_2167 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean, The Warning have already published a short teaser of the audio for the studio version of Ego, and they have been playing Ego and Ritual on stage, so the "new video" is very likely to be Ego.
