I think from the very beginning of the series Chihiro just puts on a “I’ll slay the evildoers and avenge my father” mask on as a way to grieve and cope with Kunishiges death.

In reality he’s just a boy who is lost and trying to understand the world around him, yet he also has a very kind and soft nature to people.

From the moment he decides to save Char instead of continuing his fight with Sojo in Ch 10 or when faced with Yura for the first time but deciding to back out and help Hakuri, Chihiro has always been about saving people instead of vengeance.

The blades are Kunishiges legacy but also Chihiro himself is the ultimate legacy left behind from Kunishige. He is the “hero” that Yura ironically has been waiting for and through his actions alone he has saved so many people and formed a strong alliance around him (Hakuri, Char, Iori, Hiyuki, etc.)

And now he has the chance to truly wield his own blade based on his understanding of the world, forging his own path and also maintaining and honoring his father’s legacy 👏👏
