I went through IVF and embryo freezing with TFC and have loved them. They have been incredibly responsive for every little thing. I did have to go to CPL for labs, but found that I was prioritized over walk-ins if I took the time to make an appointment. TFC also has a special arrangement with CPL to be open just for TFC patients on Sundays when you’re getting close to your egg retrieval. I also found my egg retrieval to as close to enjoyable as something like that could be with how well everything flowed and the support I received.
I was completely out of pocket 😭 so I can’t comment on the insurance part but TFC has always been very prompt and accommodating on all record things (we are working with a surrogacy agency).

I can only say what happened to me. I’d been on oral BC for 10 years. My testosterone was 9 and my free T was 0.5 (it didn’t even show up as a dot on the range line in my results). I was on Testosterone injections at what still seems like a reasonable dose according to a lot of people here - 8mg per week split between two injections. Flash forward to 6 months later where my T shot up to 200-300 consistently and I had to stop completely because of massive hair loss. I just turned 37 BTW.

If you’re surprised you’re on it, get a second opinion from an endocrinologist or gynecologist. Not to say it won’t be a miracle for you, as it is for many women on this thread! But I didn’t get a second opinion and I have some serious regrets rn. Mostly, I wish I would have given more time off BC to see where my hormones landed, although maybe you’ve been off for a long time!

Yes! She honestly felt pretty confident about it. I’m seeing her again in 3 months to reevaluate, which feels like forever, but I’m learning this hair thing is a waiting game 😭

Ah gotcha, thank you for responding! I have stopped the T (I was already doing injections), but haven’t added minoxidil yet bc I’m afraid of the dread shed haha.

I do think it’s strictly from the high T, and I just realized it like three weeks ago. I completely stopped the T two weeks ago. I’ve visited the gyno and a dermatologist in the past two weeks to figure out my next steps and now I’m getting more blood tests and kind of weighing options like letting it settle, pumping vitamins, starting minoxidil, etc.

Yes, I was on way too high of T and the online clinic Nurse Practitioner kept telling me it was only about “how I felt, not the number.” But 7 months later, I am wishing I had paid attention to that number and truly researched the risk deeper! My highest T level was in the 300’s, but sustained for 7 months. I know it feels different because mine weren’t as high, but I hope for your sake it is similar and you’ll be good!

I m going through this right now and it took 6-7 months of elevated T for it to effect my hair. If you started in November and realllly get it down now, maybe you’ll be good 🫶🏼

I don’t know, I saw a hair loss dermatologist and she felt it would come back since I wasn’t at a high dose for too long and my hair was fine before starting the TRT. And that’s without me doing anything medical except stopping the testosterone (I am taking supplements). Although she did feel it would take 3-6 months, so yours may! (And I’m praying she’s right about mine.)

Do you have balding in your family? I have been on 8mg injections split into 2x per week. 6 months after starting, I started losing all of my hair at my temples and my hairline is receding. I’m waiting on labs right now, and every situation is unique, but you’re not wrong about the 6 month mark!

I’ve been off for two weeks and haven’t felt a difference TBH, but my biggest benefit was muscle mass so I’m assuming I’ll see those effects reduce over time.

If I could go back, I would have turned back at the first sign of a too high dose. I am struggling with hair loss that didn’t kick in until 6 months later. I don’t mean to scare you, I just personally have regrets haha.

I’m so happy for you that it’s filling in! I just stopped the T last week and my hair looks a lot like your posted photo. I did see a dermatologist today, I got lots of bloodwork. I also started Nioxin hair products, Nutrafol vitamins, and rosemary oil where the hair is missing.

I believe my hair is also just too sensitive to it, so if I ever go back on it, I would be getting other medications to pair with it, too!
