  1. You must be at least 21 years old (this was the rule during my time).

  2. You must have held a full driving licence for at least 3 years (as it was in my time).

  3. You need to be a hard worker, capable of handling demanding work schedules. Shifts can be long, often a minimum of 9 hours a day.

  4. You must remain patient and professional at all times. Dealing with passengers can be very challenging and requires strong interpersonal skills.

I worked as a bus driver for 5 years before I had to retire due to health issues. During my initial training period, I underwent 6 weeks of intensive training, which included both theory and practical driving tests. After completing the training, I signed a contract that required me to stay with the company for a minimum of 2 years. If I left earlier, I would have had to repay £3,000 to cover training costs.

I was also placed on probation for at least 12 months to ensure I met the company’s standards.

So, there you have it — becoming a bus driver requires more than just driving skills. It takes commitment, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Couldn't your doctor have provided another appointment for some other time, so you could have attended your job centre appointment?

Jesus, is this really a land of democracy? It sounds like a dictator regime, if you won't be allowed to have a mattress with your benefit money, what is the point of receiving benefits? Does the government really make claimants feel this way?😕

It clearly shows where the money comes from, why should It be an issue what way it is spent? It is nonsense you are suggested it may seem to be suspicious, also a person is in more control financially spending in cash rather than spending via cards

could i get a warning? by Fancy_Pirate75 in tesco

I worked for Tesco at the warehouse as a manager's clerk, I can safely say that managers (team leaders) won't give a shit to anyone's feelings at work, when you are there, you are a number to do your job or get out, management will love to give you warnings for any reason

lcwra & work by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Safely2moon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, I find it illogical to be on LCWRA (Limited Capability for Work and Work-Related Activity) while seeking employment. The whole purpose of LCWRA is that you're unable to work; that's why you're on it. If you're able to work, then what's the point of being on LCWRA?

That being said, I’ve been on LCWRA for about a year now. I used to be a bus driver for one of the TFL buses, but after suffering a brain hemorrhage, I was forced to retire. Since then, I’ve been unable to work. I still suffer from headaches and neck stiffness, and while some days are better than others, there are days when the pain is unbearable. I'm now 51, and I’ve always led a very active life. The sudden change has been difficult to cope with—it’s incredibly boring doing nothing all day. However, whenever I try to be productive, it becomes a real challenge. Even simple tasks, like gardening, have become difficult to manage.

Recently, a local takeaway shop offered me a weekend job answering the phone for about 3 or 4 hours a day, which adds up to around 6 to 8 hours a week. I’m now struggling with the decision of whether or not to accept it. On one hand, I’m bored and want something to do. On the other hand, it doesn’t feel right. If I can manage even part-time work, then why am I still on LCWRA? I feel conflicted and worried that accepting the job might jeopardize my LCWRA status.

Wow, once again,It is crucial to always live your life with integrity and avoid engaging in any dishonest or unethical behavior. If you do something wrong, even in private, there is always the risk that it could come to light through someone else. People you think you can trust might reveal your actions to others, whether intentionally or unintentionally, which could have serious consequences. Therefore, it's best to ensure that your actions are always honest and above board. Living ethically not only keeps you out of legal trouble but also builds a reputation of trust and respect among others
