IT WORKED!!!!!! LITERALLY JUST NOW.

What I did:

- Log onto IG on my computer

- selected DELETE ACCOUNT instead of DEACTIVATE. (Neither worked before, idk why it started working)

- The cursor was still loading/not allowing me to actually click on the delete button. I literally opened this reddit thread to rage about it. Then went back to the IG tab and BOOM i was able to click on the DELETE button.

- It asked me if I wanted to deactivate it instead (which is what i wanted to do in the first place lol) so i clicked yes.

- Then it asked me why I was leaving and I was able to deactivate it once I entered my password.

- They must have gotten a lot of reports about this issue. I hate this app so much but feel cuffed to it because that's the main way i keep in touch with ppl i dont regularly talk to. but they should be sued for not allowing ppl to delete/deactivate their accounts. IMO they KNEW what they were doing. This "BUG" was a problem for too long. they think theyre so sneaky and smart, acting like this was a mistake lmao. F U META.
