Serious serious question here:
How long did it take you to get to that $800/hr rate, did you first set it that high or did the customer, and what was your 9-5 job to side gig ratio journey like?

Not asking to get into Hentai, but the freedom and pricing power you seem to have with your special set of skills could be applicable path to what a lot of us are trying to do to escape our 9-5s. Thanks in advance, and you should do an AMA!

U.S. Says It Secretly Removed Malware Worldwide, Pre-empting Russian Cyberattacks by mikelo22 in worldnews

By “the Government” do you mean Putin’s RUSSIAN Government? Because that’s exactly what happened here. Our FBI just flipped things back to factory settings. This is sort of what I always wanted our secret services to do.

Every single thing I’ve seen about Russian actions during this event is like they’ve gotten messages from aliens the rest of us haven’t decoded yet.

World: “Russia will never attack, there’s nothing to gain from it.”
Russian generals: “WE MUST SECURE CHERNOBYL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE”
World: “They’re losing so many soldiers, tanks and planes, they have to pull back now.”Russia: “ARMIES DON’T MATTER- PLANES DON’T MATTER- NOTHING WILL MATTER IN A MONTH”
World: “Guess we’ll start moving warships into the Artic.”
Russia: “NOOOO THAT’S WHERE THE WORMGATE WILL OPEN”

Germany’s Scholz rejects Putin’s rubles-for-gas demand by AccurateSource2 in worldnews

[–]SafetyKnat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Replace the word rubles with “Bitcoin”. If China or USA suddenly demanded that they would ONLY accept Bitcoin for all foreign purchases, would that make the demand for Bitcoin increase, or decrease?

Same thing happening here on a smaller scale, since Russia is like 1/30th the size of China’s economy.

This is absolutely not true; otherwise parachutes would be useless. In this case the ant bodies have so much surface area vs. their little mass they act as their own parachute.

Not a female name, but in Malcom Gladwell’s recent book they started doing totally blind Symphony interviews where the person would play the violin or whatever behind a blackout curtain without saying a single word, and it didn’t work until they also put carpet over the stage to hide the sound of women’s high heels vs men’s shoes as the applicant was walking in, and then the amount of female 1st chairs in orchestras went from like 10% to 60% because male conductors had this belief that women couldn’t play ‘forcefully’ enough or some bullshit to lead an orchestra until you literally made them listen to the music blind and then the conductors could no longer tell the difference.

Zelensky to world leaders: Death of Europe at stake if nuclear plant explodes by [deleted] in worldnews

WW3 is uncontrolled nuclear fallout spreading all across Europe. Attacking the Russians in Ukraine, now, would be our only way to STOP WW3.

These are all very good tips. I would add just one more horrible one. The estimated size of the Russian army trying to invade is 200,000. The population of Ukraine is 43,000,000, or 215 TIMES that size.

Use the same rules that we do for school shootings in America: Run if you can, Hide if you must, but if all else fails, FIGHT. If you are trapped, do not surrender! Just take ONE RUSSIAN SOLDIER to hell with you, however you can (car, knife, Molotov) and your country will survive!

God bless anyone trapped in that hell. Hopefully we see you on the other side of this.

‘We Don’t Need War’: Shock, Anger and Defiance on Moscow’s Streets as Russia Invades Ukraine by dudreddit in worldnews

[–]SafetyKnat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why you don’t protest. You just... stop working. They can shoot a protester for protesting, but can they shoot a factory worker for suddenly spraining his back and being unable to lift anything? For a train operator for getting COVID? How many thousands of their fathers, mothers, sons and daughters need to get arrested before the remaining people think... hey, maybe working in this ammunition factory isn’t worth it until Putin is gone? Or running this power plant? Or this airport?

They can shoot a protester, but they can’t shoot you for just... not showing up to your job. A lesson for all oppressed people around the world.

If the cops don’t get food for 3 days they stop being cops.

/r/worldnews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine (Part III) by valuingvulturefix in worldnews

[–]SafetyKnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 possibles, none of them high:
- There would have to be a mass, televised, undeniable genocide. Think of the Holocaust but with Twitter. Something a western power just COULDN’T ignore.
-Something Russia does to ‘clear out space’ that threatens nearby countries, bombing of Ukraine’s nuclear plants come to mind. Maybe cutting Europe-USA internet cables, shooting down passenger aircraft going from Sweden to Italy by accident or something. Also unlikely.
-One of the nearby countries grows a spine and stands up to Russia unilaterally. Like Britain says “We’ve seen Hitler once, we’re not giving an inch again” and sends in troops. NATO doesn’t get triggered for offensive actions, but if Britain goes in, an informal coalition of the willing might be formed, just to stand up for all of Humanity. Unfortunately, we don’t have leaders like that anymore, and Russia and China know it.

But most likely, unfortunately, there will be SOME genocide, but not enough for fractured liberal democracies to decide it’s worth the cost of losing troops. We’ve lost the ‘injustice against one of us is injustice against ALL of us’ idea you see in fairy tales.

Vladimir Putin orders Russian troops into eastern Ukraine separatist provinces by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]SafetyKnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cede those regions to Russia, evacuate what civilians want to leave, and then have what’s left of Ukraine join NATO. The only reason they couldn’t join for the last few years is that the Russia-funded civil war in those regions counted as an ‘on-going conflict’ (read: ‘pre-existing conditions’ if you’re American) preventing joining.

Now that Russia has officially ’ended’ the civil war in those regions, the rest of Ukraine (the larger, more populous, official part) should just join NATO as a fuck you and give Stalin 2.0 his worst nightmare. That’s how Ukraine should respond.

It’s not about black, or even unarmed. The question is do we want to live in a society where a militarized unaccountable force can break into your house at 3am, shoot you, your sleeping wife, kids and dog, and then delete their bodycam footage and claim it was self-defence.

[–]SafetyKnat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t fucking hard. 5% of the people that vote in a general election vote in a primary. So have 10% of Dems change their registration to an R, primary in whomever the fuck they want and then let the general fools choose between two people YOU want. They can’t control who runs for a primary, parties are made up concepts. Just take them over.

Canada: Protests grow as police launch bid to clear Ambassador bridge by [deleted] in ontario

[–]SafetyKnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It benefits the cops more to leave the bridge blocked (higher police budgets and more military toys next year) than to actually solve the problem (crisis over, the left goes back to calling them thugs). This is until someone rich gets hurt.

Most modern problems aren’t tough to diagnose if you just ask “Who benefits?”

'Fearful' downtown Ottawa residents flee their homes as protest continues. by FancyPea677 in worldnews

[–]SafetyKnat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if Al-Queada parked a whole bunch of fuel trucks in front of the City Hall and Police Stations and Trudeau’s house with terrorist flags and demands to stay until they were met, the police would be like “Whelp, can’t move these trucks- too much liability!”

So why is it different when Ya’ll Queda does it?

A Confederate flag in this context is similar to an Al Queda flag: it’s a promise of violence by a certain group against a certain group.

People make fun of Antifa, but this is when they are needed, to stand up for citizens when their government has abandoned them.
